The first time I saw Maiden was on this tour at Long Beach Arena. Fastway was great, Saxon was unreal, and Maiden tore it up. They even played To Tame a Land, which blew my 17-year-old mind away. I still have my ticket stub. They opened up with Where Eagles Dare!!!!!!

Hey guys...Eddie Kramer did their 5-6 song demo for the 1st album but did not get asked back til R&R Over in 76 after they wanted to go back to a more straight ahead hard rock sound that had been over produced with Bob Ezrin...that's why RRO was made so quickly after Destroyer to appease original fans of their first 4 records sound. Webb in ATL
@audiomoverСағат бұрын
Yeah, Destroyer was a production departure for sure, thanks to Mr Ezrin. That's great extra context! Thank you!

Good show! My first KISS album was Destroyer for my 7th birthday in 1976. I didn't ask for it but one of my friends brought it for my gift. Had no idea that over the next 3 yrs I would get totally immersed in and become a fanatic of the band. Within a few months I had the Originals (first 3 records comp), then ALIVE!, then got Love Gun when it was released in 77....no idea how I missed the release of R&R Over?! Stayed a huge fan through the solo records but only had Ace's and Paul's. Ace's is my favorite by far! Moved on from the group after Dynasty in 79. But still a HUGE fan at age 55 of the 74-79 era of KISS. Webb in ATL BTW - Paul plays the first part of I Stole Your Love solo, you can hear when Ace takes over. Same thing happens in I Want You on R&R Over.

Yngwie was always somewhat of a cult classic. Definitely the perfect catalyst to kick off the Shrapnel Records era of technical metal. It seems like no matter what generation, if you're tuned into Metal guitar playing you kinda eventually catch on to his greatest hits. I always found it funny and somewhat relatable that Jason Becker did a cover of Black Star in high school, much just like I was sharing licks and showing my high school guitar buddies "hey look I learned the Rising Force riff!" And it's that level of ingenuity that made Yngwie so big in my guitar circles throughout the years.

I saw the Firm in 86 two times. I saw Jommy once solo. All times, I was on the front row against the barricades And I accidentally bumped into Jimmy and Paul at seperate times the next day. They both were very cool and Jimmy bought the drinks. I loved them then and I still love them now. Good music remains always. I am now in the middle of watching Howlin' Wolf Story from the "Amplified " KZbin channel. Because of me being born and living in the delta, those two just make me want to search out the old blues masters. That's where the rabbit hole ends. Because that's where it all begins.

I grew up in the late 70s, early 80s playing all the great bands stuff. Learned guitar from the gods, I never understood the Yngwie things AT ALL.. I'll never say another musician is bad or sucks. All music is great. But even as a guitarist, he just never really inspired me.

I saw Dio on the Last in Line tour in November of 1984. The first of MANY times I saw him through the years (both solo and with Black Sabbath). He ALWAYS sounded great and he ALWAYS put on a killer show. This one was no exception! 🤘

Hysteria helped me through my senior years of High School. A very important time so the album is remembered fondly. I was also a Queen fan for a long time. After Freddie died, it seemed that Def Leppard were the spiritual successors to Queen. They had the heavy guitar hooks, multitracked vocal harmonies, melodic compositions, british pedigree, and long term friendship with Brian May which led to their headlining at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. I couldn't help but transfer allegiance to Def Leppard. Hysteria was an evolution, but 1996's Slang was another evolution and has become one of my favourite DL albums. 2008's Sparkle Lounge and 2022's Diamond Star Halos also favourites for me. Each have some epic song offerings written by Rick Savage.

It mostly was because of Eddie. Nobody was playing like that! I saw them open for Sabbath in 78, and they rocked! If I remember right, they were back in town headlining for their 2nd album about a year later. Fantastic gig! I ended up seeing them at the US Festival, but that's a story for another time.

The first time I saw Ted in concert was 1968 in the Cincinnati Gardens with the Amboy Dukes. He played standing on top of stacked Fender Showman’s. He changed his wardrobe several times during the show as well. Amazing guitarist at age 19. 🎸 5:02

So a writer finished his article post live performance from Cliff Burton and the magazine was put on shelves post-mortem. What is interesting about articles getting publicized later than the actual event happening? This is actually more the rule than the exception.

This was the pinnacle of Dio's solo career and the concert I saw at the Birmingham Odeon, Queensryche supporting, was one of the best I ever attended. As it was a theatre, very few rock acts at that time could sell an arena, we didn't get the full US stage show, but it was spectacular nonetheless. I remember I could feel the heat of the flamethrowers at the front of the stage during We Rock, even about twenty rows back. I'd recently broken my jaw, so I wasn't able to sing along the way I wanted to. and I was deaf in one ear, the one nearest the wall of the theatre, for three days after the show.

Thank you sir. I did see Dio with Twisted Sister on this tour. I was on Jimmy Bain's side. I can't remember much, not from being on any type of stimulant, but because it was almost 40 years ago. 😂. Anyway, I'm 5'5" and I was the lead singer in many bar bands in the 90's. I'm not boasting, but I was blessed with a powerful voice and lungs, too!

Ha, Last in line came out in 1984 didn’t it? Cuz I woulda been 10 years old and after a while it started freakin me out cuz it seemed real dark to me so I traded another guy that tape for Van Halen 2. And I told my oldest brother that Last in line album freaked me out, and he just laughed and called me a pussy! 😂 But I love that album! And I love dark sounding music, minor chords, Mmmm weird……🤣😂 That’s why when Vivian Campbell joined Def Leppard I was hopin he was gonna get um outta the cock rock scene, but nope! 😂 That’s very interesting that the whole ELF band turned into RAINBOW, I never knew that…….🤘🏼✌🏼

As much as I was a fan of Dave, when he left I thought they were in trouble- then I heard about Sammy joining and said to myself hey that could be cool he’s a really good singer and guitar player! So we waited and waited then finally “why can’t this be love” single dropped and blew us all away- then we waited for the album and HOLY COW did that album blow peoples minds!!! Every single song on that 5150 album was mind blowing!! Sammy to me just took VH to another level between his MUCH BETTER vocals, better songwriting and his ability to play guitar live giving the band a much fuller live sound! Yup 1986! Man where the hell did the time go??
