I was in your boat, only 25 years ahead of you. It sounds like nothing fundamental has changed. I never looked back once I got into industry but the big 4 offered a good foundation. I stayed 3 years post qualification, if I had my time again I'd have left 2 years earlier.

Thanks, James! Your video was really helpful. I had a partner interview at PwC last week, and I received the offer today. I approached it as more of a conversation, asking questions about his career journey and the future plans for building the practice. Being curious and having industry knowledge definitely made a difference. He even complimented me on the depth of my industry research...

The BGM is so annoying. With the information I need to process, I find it annoying to first filter it thru the music and then process the info. Is this how the info disseminated in the big 4?

Deloitte is great and all but if get on thr wrong side of some people you are done , no matter how good of a employee you are . Work doesn't matter visibility matters more.
@hobgoblin46146 ай бұрын
Here is the true answer to the question of the best big 4? It's the one that you get the best opportunity from. To many they view Deloitte as the Best and KPMG at the bottom. If you are at Deloitte and its your second year and all you have done is put together PBC lists and TPS reports and then move to KPMG and get to work on a project that you learn specialized technical skills, lead a project or whatever your career goals are then KPMG is the best. Part of it is luck to on the managers and partners you work with and if they help propel your career. This is the number one consideration people should take into account when thinking about this.

I wish I had this video to watch when I started in pwc audit 10 years ago. I for one didn’t get early promoted (but no one made manager in just 4 years in NYC either). I did 6 years to become a manager (oppose to 5 years as early promotion for pwc US in the past) even tho I was super smart and responsible and hard working. Unfortunately, just like any other big companies, politics is important. I was a little bit unlucky (got staffed on the wrong jobs to get early promotion) and I didn’t play the politics at all (which I should have. Finding a sponsor is really important). However, I’m still grateful for my time at pwc because without that training, I wouldn’t have become who I am today. Today outside of housing and necessities, the amount I’m able to save post tax is already > what I made as a senior manager in audit in a year before tax. That 10k pre tax diff in total annual comp from early promotion, that I dearly cared so much, now seems so silly lollll
@marg83157 ай бұрын
They all the same… says someone who worked at pwc for 8 years. More than willing to hire someone from any of these firms.and they’re all so large that culture is more dependent on your group or team

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:27 *💰 Feeling underpaid, unequal distribution of rewards, and better opportunities elsewhere were significant reasons for leaving the Big Four.* 03:56 *📊 Working as an auditor often felt unfulfilling and lacking purpose due to the perceived lack of value in the work compared to other roles.* 05:37 *⏰ The combination of high workload, long hours, and little personal time led to sacrificing personal interests and well-being, prompting the desire for a better work-life balance.* 07:01 *🏢 Concerns about poor work-life balance, unfulfilling work, and low salary were not adequately addressed by senior leadership, leading to a desire to pursue a different career path.* Made with HARPA AI

Think I can do all the points said in the video just may go umm some of the time. Although I will try to stop this as much as I can by knowing what I want to say before saying it
