Thanks for the very useful feedback- Do you think starting in the consulting role instead of auditing will be a good kickoff , specifically as an accountant?

This is brilliant, so helpful! Also, I cannot stand adding a new payee on regular banking so I'll give this app a go!

Thanks a lot mate. Great video as always. Do you think getting into MC is made easier through the few years in Audit first ?

No worries - glad you enjoyed it. Let me know if there is any specific content you'd like to see. 100%, I think once you get to the Senior Associate level a lot of your skills/experience will be directly transferable.

Hey, another great video! How much would someone usually travel when working in the big 4? Would this change depending on which part of the business they work in? Would this travel be global or around the UK? Sorry for all the questions 😂🙏keep up the good work 👍
@JamesAlberts2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Charlie, I'm glad you enjoyed it! No worries on the questions - keep them coming! It really depends on your clients, I was based in London and most of my clients also had their HQ in London, so it really wasn't much travel 90% of the time. However, on occasion I did travel to other PwC offices in the UK/EU, and spent a month in India for one of my clients. Typically, consulting has the most travel, with Tax having the least. Audit/Deals sits somewhere in the middle. Travel can be anywhere - like my examples above I went across UK, EU and Globally. You are randomly allocated to clients, however, if you want more/less travel opportunities you can speak to your Managers and or resourcing teams to get allocated as you wish!

Hi James, I find your videos really interesting! At the moment I am in my second year of study, finishing my AAT level 3 and I am really enjoying it. I have been for a while thinking to move into further studies after this like ACA or ACCA and I would love the idea to join a Big 4. Do you think the age could be a problem to start in a Big 4? Very soon I will turn 32 and I don't know if this could be a problem considering I planned in my head to finish chartered accountant studies with around 36 years old. Thanks a lot for all your tips!

Do you prefer auditing or consulting? Do you think consulting is a higher level than auditing? I received a proposal for tax consultants in a big 4, do I accept it or wait to get into the audit?

Great video! I start on an audit grad scheme in september and I have just graduated from uni. Is there anything I can do from now until then to prepare in advance as it is quite a bit of time

Am just wondering how transferring from Audit for instance to consulting within the same firm might affect how long it takes you to become a manager for instance?

Hi there is very little advice on application here. You focus so much what consulting firms do vs audit. The title is deceptive - may be its good content for another subject.
