What you are doing is a great thing! I visited Panama a few years ago and it was garbage everywhere. I couldn't believe a government with revenue of Panama, couldn't develop a program to clean up the country, especially the beaches. If any of the central American countries want to attract tourists. I think they should clean up the pollution in their country. It's nice to see James drop by! Sorry to hear that he's selling Zangaro .I know I misspelled it! Lol Stay safe from the east coast of Canada 🇨🇦
@WhiteSpotPiratesКүн бұрын
Yeah, trash infrastructure is a pretty messy topic in most countries in Central America 😬. The areas with tourists usually get cleaned up fairly well but outside of that there is no direct advantage / money in doing so, so…..

How can people with limited funds move past the workshop phase?
@WhiteSpotPiratesКүн бұрын
That is a good question. Some of the workshops we give - especially the jewelry ones - are structured in a way that people who attend can very easily replicate the production at a very low investment cost (sometimes even zero if things already exist in the household). For making jewelry , a sandwich maker or an iron can be used for example. If we see that there is serious interest but no funding, then we help with funding those basics. The great thing about starting off with jewelry is that it’s a low investment entry, the products are usually easily sold and that way, they can see at an early stage that they can make money with their recycling activities. Then they can step by step widen / enlarge their business- if desired. We also help build / fund an entire workspace if we see that a place has a lot of potential. You will see more about that in the next episode ☺️♻️👍

Great work one step at a time. I would think the long term solution would be looking at what the locals are buying in regards to plastic on a daily basis. What are they using in the daily life and for generate income. Such as containers, fishing tools, fasteners, handles, brushes, and so on 🤗 The smiles and thinking of the workshop attendees say it all where there is money there is a way.. 👍 One step at a time ✊

PP is not a good stuctural plastic, you should mix it with fibers or use another one
@WhiteSpotPirates4 күн бұрын
Thanks for ur feedback: Which one would you recommend? Mixing with fiber: as far as I understand, this would eliminate the possibility of further recycling, though, wouldn’t it?

Is it possible to make a Roof tile from Recycled plastic? Simple shape very practical if it can survive the elements
@inirons2 күн бұрын
Sunlight, UV, is plastic's worst enemy. UV damage is what you see on beach plastic - crumbling, fractures, brittleness. A viable plastic roofing shingle would require a durable UV resistant coating. It quickly becomes cost prohibitive, I imagine.
@WhiteSpotPiratesКүн бұрын
@@inironsyeah I have been wondering about that, too. I do see large beams being made from recycled plastic (more industrially) and they use them for construction, fences and floors (outdoors) and I always wonder about UV resistance and also microplastic from walking on a plastic floor…so far, we have mostly made inside stuff and have not tested for UV durability. Only thing I can say: I made some carabiners and clipped something on my boat with it and it was in the sun for…maybe two months…and broke 😬 so that’s as far as my testing has gone 😂
@phantomtrijder64934 күн бұрын
Its is very good and everyone's effort is admirable. Unless things are scaled up to industrial levels it will remain applaudadable but futile. Our production of waste far exceeds our attempts at recycling or investment in dealing with waste. You make a nice video and say good things but our production and destitution of the planet makes your attempts futile.
@WhiteSpotPiratesКүн бұрын
I can see how it seems futile in the face of the vastness of the problem. However, if you take a look at the bigger picture: the precious plastic movement started some years ago and there are thousands of small scale recylcing businesses that popped up across the globe since then and I very much do believe that this decentralized recycling infrastructure is making a difference. Especially for the people in the area. Maybe google “precious plastic map” to take a look at how many there are already. And I am sure there are many more that are not registered here. Just as an example: the workspace we set up in Chipas (next episode) was at a coffee farm and they want to help replicate this system on other farms. So step by step, things are advancing. Big industrial solutions are important but it take a lot of investment and time to build those. Small decentralized solutions are a lot easier to set up and replicate. I do agree, though, that overall, we need to turn off the tap and produce less and take more sustainable choices. But the mess we made still needs to be cleaned up 🤷🏼♀️ Maybe view it like a snowball system. Might seem small in the beginning but can grow bigger and bigger over time ♻️🙌🏽♻️

Hello, my dear Skipper, good afternoon. Don't worry about the ocean, it is also a driving and living force on this planet Earth, it even has its own intelligence. Have you seen what the shore of the beach is like? Well, the Ocean returns EVERYTHING THAT DOES NOT BELONG TO IT and gives it to the same IDIOT who tries to ruin it. In the same way, you have to be his friend and take care of him, otherwise he will swallow you. P.S. Lady in a coastal garbage dump, wear nautical boots, infections swarm from decomposition itself. Fishing for Erycypelas on long legs like yours is painful. keep an eye out.

Yeah, that would be lovely if the ocean spat everything back out. Unfortunately that’s not quite the case 😬 but i guess u were not being tooooo serious about that 😋

I can't hide it, the Chiapanecos are shameless in not letting you sleep on your private property, they send you to a Covacha, tugurio, full of cockroaches in order to make you pay for two things and benefit someone else, well, that's also how it is in some marinas in the region. P.S. You must be very careful not to accidentally transport cockroach eggs or vermin to your boat, keep a strict eye on it and if possible do not allow strangers on board. I know my neighbors CHIAPANECOS SUB Commanders very well. GO UP TO THE NORTH, BARRA NAVIDAD OR PUERTO VALLARTA, THERE YOU CAN CHOOSE WHERE TO BE. Saludos...muy bien por las actividades con los chicos. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
