The emotional journey of this video is too real. I'm (attempting) to install these fork covers on the 48 this weekend so I appreciate all the lessons learnt here.

Bro, if you live anywhere near Vancouver BC, I will weld your fender and anything else you need for free. Certified since 1998, have my own gear. In return maybe you could help me rebuild the carbs on my bobber. We could record the whole thing for KZbin. Obviously it’s a long shot, but I couldn’t find your general location before commenting Edit: just saw your plate 😂 oh well..

In fast-forward, it would be cool if it was in real time that way I can learn🫤
@tvsnatureguy
@tvsnatureguy 8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! A lot of times the fast-forwarding is just me walking around the bike, looking at things, moving or re-running a wire etc.. The actual modification of parts/installation of parts are where I slow things down and talk through it. What in particular did I fast-forward through that you would like to learn? I try to explain in real time then fast-forward what I just explained to save everyone time watching. I can send you other sections of the videos if that would be helpful! I am getting better over time, too, especially with my newer videos!

Dude really don't feel bad, this video is very helpful honestly, I also want to install these fork covers for my forty eight. Are these the same generic from Amazon? Or where did you got them?
@tvsnatureguy
@tvsnatureguy 11 ай бұрын
Thanks my friend! Im glad it was able to help someone! Yes, these are a likely the same as the generic ones you'd find on Amazon. Just be aware that the black color never truly matches the factory gloss black on the rest of your bike. And, before you install them I would measure them and the gap between your forks. If you run into the same height issue that I did I would suggest slightly grinding them down if you have a bench grinder. I have plans down the road for my triple trees anyway so I wasnt too worried at the end of the day about the snug fit. Don't forget to subscribe and follow along!

@@tvsnatureguy nice, honestly that doesn't matters, I had a frontal crash and some parts were repainted but they looked awful so when I get the opportunity to restore the front end I will fix everything back to normal and paint the covers on the go. I'm also looking forward to install a 2" thick handlebar, you know someone who has done that modification?
@tvsnatureguy
@tvsnatureguy 10 ай бұрын
@@chocolatlituulikki4485 good luck on the restoration! check out the link below to my handlebar video. However, its not specific to a certain size handlebar. Make sure that whatever bars you put on are 100% compatible with the clamps your handlebar uses to mount to the bike. if you are unsure, call a Harley dealer and ask them the acceptable diameters for your year and model. Good luck! kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYm4kKKud7N1f8k

I do believe that you failed to actually adjust the clutch. In the video you demonstrated to turn the adjuster screw until it was finger tight, or however you described it. You skipped the part about backing the adjuster screw a quarter to half turn.

@tvsnatureguy
@tvsnatureguy Жыл бұрын
Nice!! Love my 48 and loved my BMX days as a teenager. So, DK Custom Products makes these for sportsters! What you do need to do is replace your the clevis mounts on the 48 because they aren't compatible with the majority of aftermarket parts. I used to have a Blog where I did a write up of the installation process but its rather straightforward if you can do basic DIY. Thanks for the comment!

When tightening the clutch adjustment screw you need to backup about a 1/4 of a turn the clutch needs that play or it could wear out too fast as well as the clutch lever play which should be about 1/8

I want to mine this winter. All i have is an angle grinder.... hopefully that works. You gonna do a video of the springer seat and nee fender?
@tvsnatureguy
@tvsnatureguy Жыл бұрын
Id say a hack saw is probably better than an angle grinder to be honest. I used a sawzall. Im sure a grinder would work but not as clean and certainly will take a long time. What are you looking for regarding the seat and new fender? Just the install? I have a ton of step by step photos but I could do a video. I removed the springs on the seat for a lot of reasons but the setup is still similar! Let me know, I am happy to add more if it helps you...

Great question! Its all dependent on your setup, and I recommend you measure your current bar length down to te casing where the clutch enters the case. That's the best way to determine what you're going to need for your setup!

Hey Ty I agree. I put a Hammer 1275 in my Sportster in June of 2021 and the bike runs like it’s on steroids but the top end noise is even more annoying now. I’ll check your channel to see if you did a before and after sound clip. - Xena @ the XL Forum.

Thanks for the comment! I did not do a before and after clip, but I did do a short write up and have photos of the process. Its hard to tell on standard recording equipment to be entirely honest. I would need some high tech audio recording to capture just how much quieter it is, and so you can specifically hear the ticks that are now gone. What I can say is for the price...you can't beat the result. Let me know if you have any additional questions! Thanks for the comment :)

looks great, doing this to mine soon. you should put the throttle cables behind the right tank lift bracket to avoid damage and wear on the throttle body/cables
@tvsnatureguy
@tvsnatureguy Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! I thought about it, but I am concerned that vibrations in that section with how close the cables will sit between the bracket and the frame will cause wear. I do agree they can be moved somewhere to clean it up a bit, but for now they are pretty out in the open and free from any damage...just looks like hell! :)

@tvsnatureguy
@tvsnatureguy 8 ай бұрын
@@leonlopez69 thats a good question, and I dont believe you have to relocate the coil but I am not CERTAIN. However, if you life the tank and are able to keep the coil in place its going to look pretty messy with all the stock plastic housings that sit between the tank/around the coil.
