Have this problem. Car dash lights up showing the key light locks and unlocks. I notice that the push button and brake are illuminated but once i hit the brake and push the button they still stay on as if i had not done anything, shouldnt they go out? I will try what you did, however i went the junkyard, do you know if it has to be the same part number on the box that your replacing or it doesnt matter, i am assuming it does because i got a junkyard piece and still no luck but different part number same style box though or maybe it is faulty too!? What conditions does the car have to meet for the recall?

Can a steering lock still lock without the fuse because my car wont start all the dash are on but it wont crank or start fuse aint there but steering feels lock any suggestion?

If that part is replaced, does the replacement part have to be programmed? Some of the sales in Ebay show a Dorman part, with a remote programmer included

Hy dear you are really amazing. I've a quick question please a friend of mine have an issue as he think. He said hes car altima 2011 doesn't start with out putting hes key in to the slot. Do you have to put the key in every time and push the button? And last thing it says no key on the dashboard as soon as u put the key in to the slot vehicle start perfectly.

BY THE WAY for others. Tapping a small chisel on the edge broke those tamper screws loose and set them on the reinstall.

For all who has the sme problem after you het under the wheel steering and the start engine Working just go to the main fuse box next to the engine and pull off the fuse of the lock steering and you will not have problem again

2009 Altima, same issue; called Nissan... and my VIN is not in the right range. But there clearly is a problem. Who cares which VIN it is?!?

You need better information. I work for Nissan. The part is NOT a recall. It is covered by a TSB. This means that it is only covered by Nissan for certain vin numbers. Do not assume yours is covered. Take your vehicle to Nissan to see if your vin number is covered.

I did end up receiving the new part from that company and as soon as I installed it the car started right up and haven’t had any problems since 🙌🏼

Not on my VIN number. Totally ridiculous and I have a Nissan Altima 2009. My husband did that by drilling down and place a nail to hold it.
