I watched this 4 years ago. I had no idea of this anime and why it was so popular. I had no idea of voleyball either. This just appeared out of nowhere. I was like "who is this guy?" "idk but...why do I feel that he is playing amazing?" And just with this, I got hooked into it...later on, he became instantly my favorite character in the show, despite having other better players like Ushijima. Haikyuu is truly a master piece <3

I love how Knives's self-image is reflected so well by so many of his themes. He views himself as a hero for the plants, fighting against humanity for freedom even where that might doom the plants too. And that also makes his reality so at odds with his themes. He's a mass murderer who is willing to erase everything his brother is just so he can have him by his side, less like a person and more like an object. He's twisted, but given what led him to decide to destroy humanity, we can understand exactly why he is the way that he is.
