Full on winter prepping my flock today. I bought heated outdoor dog bowls for my chickens and it worked like a charm! No more frozen water 👍

I would definitely keep those cans inside and just bring your scoop out with you. Freezing weather, blizzards, and condensation can occur. Lids can freeze down.

I ordered me a 24 qt. roasting oven to make my bone broth with, room for bones and can be used as a slow cooker as well as giving you enough room for bones and lots of broth at one cooking. might be something you might think about.

@juliesrootsandshoots27 күн бұрын
There are opportunities out there! Check out the TexasA&M job board. They advertise across the USA for so many positions (jobs, degrees, internships). You just need to sift through which ones allow foreigners to apply. I wish you luck!

If you pressure cook the carcasses in the pressure cooker longer your broth will be even better and it will be long enough for all the bones crush with your fingers; or you can put the bones back in the pressure cooker and some more water and turn it on again. The bones will cook more and then crush easily for the dog food. That way you will have NO waste. I’ve done it this way for years and it works very well.
@juliesrootsandshootsАй бұрын
I'll do that next time! Thanks for the information 😊😊😊

Don't you know that you're destroying all the nutrients and vitamins by cooking this stuff to death
@juliesrootsandshootsАй бұрын
Interesting 🤔 I'll have to look at the research. This was in the pressure cooker for 35 minutes. It may not be perfect, but my dogs still devoured it 🙂 Which is still more nutrition for them if I never even made it in the first place 🤷♀️

I love potato harvests. I will be growing Huckleberry Gold next year. My son in law is newly diagnosed as a diabetic, and Huckleberry Gold is supposed to be low on the glycemic index. I figured he would appreciate a treat at the holidays without having to worry too much about his blood sugar spiking.

Hello Ms, Can I use fish hydrolysate to coat on fish feed
@juliesrootsandshoots2 ай бұрын
I honestly don't know the answer to this question, but I want to say no. This is not oil based, which is what usually coats fish feed. I hope you find an answer!

I know this comment is late but I’m a Junior in High school and my dream is to work with fish. I would love to work in aquaculture but from what I’ve heard it’s very mixed. I basically want to do what I love but be able to pay bills. I wanted to know is this job going to be able to do that. I was also wondering what other job opportunities are their in aquaculture, also what would you recommend doing to set myself in the right path to do a job like this.
@juliesrootsandshoots2 ай бұрын
Check out your state fish and wildlife office. They usually have tons of temporary job opportunities that can start out with just a high school diploma. There's hatchery work, and also research. You'll have to decide if you want to raise fish for conservation and local fisheries or sample them and run models and statistics. Both are fun! If you're serious about pursuing fisheries as a career, you'll need a degree in something along the lines of fisheries/biology/environmental science. Being a guide also sounds like something you'd like 🙂

I ferment fish with urine and I will use about 2 cups per gallon to grow giant strawberries, giant kale plants and tomatos, alternate to using fertilizer is growing directly in woodchips, a lot of people describe things a different way. If you add sugar or even greens you will make vinegar which is not bad unless you have a lot of vinegar, I use it right away and add more water and urine as the fish continues to breakdown.
