I'm 39 and I plan on joining very soon. I need be stronger than what I am. I don't have a house, car, or kids. I've always been a team player at heart. I respect everyone in the military worldwide. The brothers and sisters of the military are unlike any other family on earth.

Good luck. Check 6 frequently. If you get a mentor. Be loyal and learn all you can. PME and off duty education is a must to progress. Do not be afraid of "Zebras". They do bite and will destroy you if you let them.

I was a 22-year-old male when I went into BMT. My MTI called me, Airman "grandpa". That is, until I got a letter in week three from a female in another squadron. Then, he started calling me, Airman "Romeo". I do not advise any training to develop a romantic relationship with a member of the opposite sex from a different squadron while at BMT!!!

Being older and joining the armed forces like age 35 is going to be rough for guys. All combat arms fields are physically demanding. You better be right there in physical fitness. Your recovery time is going to drastically go up after age 40. By 50 your going to be sucking canal water. If you go in near the max age good luck if you want to stay in. Pick a highly technical field. Not a physically demanding one. Most 39-42 year-olds are retiring from the military at E-7 and above. E-6 if they are losers.

They called me grandpa when i joined the Air Force after college. I was the second oldest being 25 and I was the guy who talked to the scared airmen in the middle of the night. I enjoyed basic and I gave the oldest guy a hard time. (We became best friends.) Six years ATC Radar then four years Education and Training Manager. Loved it.

Are you eligible? Will the father demand custody while you're gone? The father has superior rights over your family. Mothers tend to go into depression while away from their children.

I just turned 39 and going to MEPS today for my physical. I’m really nervous. I will have to get waivers approved. I hope they get approved. Basic training does scare me. Even though I’m 39 I do not have a lot of experience in life. I’m also a gay woman so I do not plan on bringing that up at boot camp but if someone asks if I have ever been married I’m not going to lie. I just don’t want the other woman nervous around me. I’m also not a natural leader so I’m nervous about that.

I remember a friend joining the Air Force to get away from her problems and to start a new life. It didn't work. Her problems resurfaced and followed her. She also didn't last long in the USAF. I see Johnna is in the wind now. She didn't last with her part-time job in the Reserves. I believe she worked a no-stress job behind a desk. I worked with nuclear weapons in the Air Force. I wouldn't want someone unhinged working next to me.

10:53 That isn't what you really thought, Thats how your mind tried to cope with the situation. I take it your normaly passive agressive to begin with? By that i mean you tend to vear away from conflict? It sounds about right, There are alot of people who smoke in the military. If you thought his voice was bad though in the Army you would of heard worse. AF is kind of chill though so im supprised they yelled to behin with. But then again you were older & use to following what you wanna do rather than what your told to do. Which is typically the hardest thing for someone thats older who joins the military. Letting go of 30-40 years of i do whatever i want & trading it for do what your told, or else.

Im 36 and joining the national guard ! Unfortunately I had to wait 90 days because they found marijuana in my system even tho I quit a month prior going to meps . So it’s been passed that and I’m ready to take another test and finally enlist . I’m also going in overweight but I know the army is going to help me finally get my life together and my physical and mental helsrh . I have my bachelors in criminal justice so finally I’ll be able to utilize that degree . Just never knew what I wanted to do with my life until now. In ready for a challenge and I feel like my life experiences and traumas helped me become a stronger person . I’m excited for the journey . I know I need to embrace the suck and most importantly I won’t give up . I never gave up before so I won’t be giving up any time soon .

I really like your video. I find it hard to stop blaming in part I think because there isn't anything I want in life. I've no goals or purpose. I put so much energy and effort into managing my parent's rage and being hypervigilant and trying to be invisible and not annoying them in order to survive and get through each day that now, almost nothing drives me. I want to stop blaming but I'm too mentally and physically exhausted and have no dreams or ambitions other than avoid my parents and avoid conflict and negotiating because it costs so much emotionally (fear panic attacks). I'm avoidant but I've never been shy so I've joined clubs and groups like amature dramatics and ballroom dancing and evening courses, and walking groups and I have always liked doing things by myself - swimming, cycling, hiking but really there isn't much I like to do or that interests me. I feel unmotivated to drive myself to do anything. I would have thought 'stop blaming and take positive action, do something with your life' would be the right answer but like I say I've no dreams or aspirations.

hello, great video, and thanks, I have some concerns, I am 39 years old, and I want to enter the US Air Force, but I have only permanent residence, I am not a citizen, and I would like a job that needs Top clearance, but for that, I must first enter with a job that allows non-citizens, but the minimum contract is 4 years, my question is, if by the end of my first contract I would be 43 years old, could I choose to change jobs even though the job limit is 42 years old?
