Great video. First time I've seen or heard of these type of camera. I'm a recently retired pensioner who has never had a camera before so I bought a Nicon D750 and a Nicon nicor af-s 50mm lens. It's a hell of a learning curve but fun. I've found that over the weeks I've had it, I'm noticing that I look more intensely at things now. I'm always looking for a good shot. I'm glad I didn't start with the camera you have here; as I think that I might have given up early in frustration. I remember my grandfather having one of those bellows cameras, but that was around 1910 when he bought it originally. He was still using it in the 1960's when he died. Thanks for the informative video and have a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. 🥳

I own a Voigtländer Bessa 6x9 from the 30th or 40th and I like it, even it has no rangefinder (built-in light meters are unnecessary anyways). The shutter was never serviced, but it works without any problems…

Yes 220 film didn't have the paper all the way through the whole roll so it was thinner. How can you answer that question when you don't have the correct answer? If you run 120 through a 220 back you'll have spacing issues and the frames may overlap

Looking elsewhere on the internet, it looks like you cannot easily swap out the bellows for bag bellows on these. That being the case, how well does shift work on them when using wide angle lenses 75mm, 90mm etc?
@NicosPhotographyShow12 күн бұрын
I would suggest a recessed lens board to help. 90mm would be my choice as 75mm can get quite wide and circle is usually not as big for movements. You can probably do some moderate shifts, nothing crazy. For crazy I highly suggest the Sinar F2.

Nice overview ! But, talking about Canon FD cameras, you should have mentioned the Canon FTb. Very reliable and sturdy cameras, manual and mechanical, i use it as a backup for the more unreliable Canon A cameras.

Thanks for this informational video! This is very helpful. How do you feel about the focusing knob being on the back of the camera base? Does it become intuitive? I am used to large format cameras with the knobs on the outside of the camera, like Zone VI and Wisner cameras.

Brilliant stuff. I use a Universal Press G in 70mm iMax w/ 100/2.8 & Metz strobe. It’s little bulkier then a Graflex 23 but much more maneuverable then the RB67 for 70mm Vision III. Now I’m interested in the Mamiya 6 MF for walk around fun & travel 6x6 & 645.

I bought my V750 Pro brand new in 2011, and it had this haze from day one. I always thought it was supposed to be there, until recently when I scanned a print (I almost always scan film Negatives) and I noticed the haze on the scan. Whatever has been on there for the past 13 years I got it off with distilled water.

As usual, fantastic video. When you raised the front standard and took it out of the rail and used it for tilt, can it be centered and used as axis tilt that way requiring less re focusing than using it in the rail for base tilt? Does the centering mark then locking at that point properly set it for axis tilt? As a portrait photographer... loved your RZ,RB67 videos, It looks like this camera will do what I need in studio and on location. Although it doesn't have front shift, if I understand it correctly... This is a new world after the 645 and 67, by shifting both the front and rear standards towards the subject, that will give a shift effect? Yesterday, my RB pro s back stopped advancing at 9 but the center lever seemed to correct that, so with that camera, it had so many things mechanically that could jump up and bite me, whereas, with large format, it's pretty simple and the problems are operator error. Can you recommend a good book on large format, especially using for portraiture.

Hello sir I have one question from you
@24secondsperframe6828 күн бұрын
I took the Dynax 5 backpacking. It was slung over my shoulder when I came off a dirt bike. My shoulder was screwed, but the camera was fine as it's lens hood took the impact and simply cracked in 2. Kept using it. Got some of my best shots with a kit lens in bright conditions and dark temple corridors alike. Great ergonomics and it just doesn't get in your way. I've since gone back to a manual Pentax collection because of my student days nostalgia and aesthetics if I'm honest, but the Dynax definitely deserves better. Sure I don't much like plastc painted silver and it could have really benefited from a tough, all black product design aesthetic - But it was a regretably superficial retro market at the time and as a result, it's a very under rated camera that came out when people had shifted their focus to the technological horizon. A luxury item in the dying market of consumer level AF SLRs at the time.

Thank you! That bit at the end on re-cocking the lens was exactly what I needed to know. Cool to learn about the self timer feature too. I now know you want to advance after each shot so the body and lens stay in sync, but would you want to keep the body not advanced for storage/air travel to minimize tension?

I was following you tutorial to finally use my FM2 and I realised there is a film inside. The shot finder shows "S" letter and I can't shoot and advance. What do you suggest to do? Thank you so much and my best greetings from Rome :)
@zerogravity121Ай бұрын
If you can't advance with lever, most likely means the film has been shot completely but not rewound. I would rewind it completely. The fact that it indicates S and not 36 or any other number means someone must have opened the camera (which reset the counter to S) but also inadvertently exposes the film to light. I would discard the film.
@eleoxora83Ай бұрын
@@zerogravity121 thank you so much for your reply. I have tried to rewind but looks like it is forced to do so while doing it, and then it releases the loading. For some reason this operation unlocked the lever and it's now counting the shot but I don't know if that possible? I mean, if already shot but not rewound would it be possible to use it again?

Its a super wide angle medium format camera essentially. The widest you can go with a Hasselblad for example is 24mm (35 equivalent), wider than that becomes fisheye.

Thanks, and thanks for not drowning your tutorial in thumpy sound track. I have the 124 all metal iteration I got off kijiji. In bad shape. It takes 120 and 220. It has the movable pressure plate and film type indicator window. But the non functional light meter is different. I think they rebuilt it to some extent. Appreciate your clear explain! Cheers!

The extra spool tip, with a little bit of tape on it, is genius. Worth the price of admission right there. I’m just transitioning into medium and large format after better than three decades shooting. And this one little tip was like an aha! moment that I wasn’t expecting. Well done!

So help me understand, this isn't a real black paint M2 because Leica can't confirm the serial number making it just an M2....and you paid $5.5K for a camera that goes for half that in the used market? If the black paint was aftermarket what made it cost so much?
@NicosPhotographyShowАй бұрын
If real and confirmed it would be in the 10-20K price range. So as it seems its not a repaint (or at least not modern) making it not the silver M2 price.
@CaballeroshotАй бұрын
@@NicosPhotographyShow "if real and confirmed" is something you do prior to selling an item. The price of a collector's item comes from its verifiable rarity, not based on the possibility it MIGHT be.
@NicosPhotographyShowАй бұрын
Im aware, I accepted the fate of this item and its value or lack of value. I had no problem owning it as I liked the story behind it and where it came from. Im not looking to buy cameras to sell them at a gain, this one is mine to keep forever, so resale value or not it doesn't make a difference. Im a happy owner and user of this not confirmed black M2.
@CaballeroshotАй бұрын
@@NicosPhotographyShow don't get me wrong, I have no issue with your reason for buying it. What I'm asking is how the value of the camera was reached by the seller since it's neither a collector black paint M2 and from my understanding, third party work done to these cameras doesn't mean added value.

Are you ever supposed to see the red arrow in AF mode if you’re too close to an object or subject or is it constantly the green circle? I used to think I saw the red arrow if I was too close to an object/subject but now I never see it, which makes me think I was accidentally in infinity mode.
