I made an attempt (last week in August)at finding it using a map ref from a website about the crash, but i failed to find the exact spot, i was mainly walking to the trig point and another direction from the border on a circular walk starting from the layby on the Lancs Yorks Border, but decided to try and find it as i was near the trigpoint , i failed that time but with a bit more research i think i have found it wearabouts, so i am going to try from Cants clough reservoir soon, it was a sunny day andwas attacked by the midge when i was looking, so that contributed to me giving up the search on the day, i have a v small channel and film my hikes (not uploaded this hike yet), on my next attempt i will film the area but with respect of course

Thanks for the comment. Sadly my video isn't all that great as it was one of my earlier ones. I could have filmed the journey there, and I might re-film it soon. It's really not far from the trig, and I'd suggest easier than going by the reservoir.....but I wish you good luck in the search 👍

@@matparks08 I lived there for a number of years up to the start of the millennium. The stories I was told .indicated that the cellar was used initially as a mortuary ( during the building of the canal) and later as a pub on the ground floor, and a slaughter house in the basement. I was told that the landlord used to heavily salt his meat pies, so that his regulars drank more beer. I opened the first canal side / related business in over 100 years which was called Lobb Mill Chandlers. Sadly, after getting flooded in the Todmorden flood, we were forced to close. I have very fond memories of Lobb Mill and also Tod.

As a mother and grandmother, this video made me very sad and angry, even viewing it through the lens of 150 years or so. Yes, children were used in mills, factories and mines through necessity before there were any kind of universal benefits - it was that or the workhouse. The sort of treatment this horrible individual meted out to defenceless children was absolutely outrageous and the fact that he went unpunished and the little boy's parents had no justice or compensation is sickening. It makes me wish there was such a thing as a time machine. Believe me, I'd be up the road to Halifax at the speed of light and have big, tough Mr Crowther and his strap running for his life.
