Still thank you for a flash back to my 30 year career in commercial aviation. The A320 training facility is the building next to the Vulcan heritage site. Happy Days and many Nights.

Thanks - yes it's amazing! Gutted I haven't flown for almost 12 months due to covid. Can't wait to get back up there! Also looking forward to the UK update for MSFS and a PA28 so I can literally recreate this (on Vatsim as well)!

@@bluelights85 yes, I'm also looking forward to the msfs UK update, covid sure has disrupted many of the things we all enjoy. I have a hang glider that I also have a power unit for, but due to rediculous working hours and family commitments I haven't flown in the real world for 13 years, now I also feel scared to do it.

In Warrington there are three swing bridges across the main roads to the south of town, and a high level road bridge. Two railway bridges, one is the west coast main line, and the other no longer carries trains as the line finished many years ago. Then there are the two Thelwall viaducts on the M6 motorway. I think a new road bridge across the canal should be built near Irlam to just north of Partington and would be ideal for traffic, especially HGVs in this industrial area getting to Sale and Altrincham, and would probably mean the end of the Warburton toll bridge with the silly 12p toll (even 20p is ridiculous) for vehicles under three tons as that is the weight limit. On the Irlam A57 bypass there are two bridges, one is the Liverpool- Manchester railway, but the other a mile further along in my opinion was unnecessary to be built as it carries nothing since this is another long gone railway line. I once witnessed a motorcycle going through the Irlam locks on the Salford side to get across to the Trafford side.

I went for a cycle round there the other day. I felt nothing but sadness. The housing estate looks like a theme park of 'ye olde England'. In the US I reckon it would have been retained and used for general aviation. Near Chicago there's a housing complex with its own airstrip. Pilots live there and they can get the plane out of the garage, taxi to the runway and fly away somewhere. I prefer to imagine Woodford like this! Great shots and many thanks.

Rob Crossley I’m in the process of revalidating a lapsed PPL, I’ve flown more PA38’s than 28’s so this was a familiarisation exercise. Been really impressed with instructors there. It would be nice to meet with a view to sharing a trip sometime maybe.

Rob Crossley I’m thinking of going to Lomac to try to revalidate a lapsed ppl, so difficult to know which school to choose. It’s the students / people like you that I need to ask, not the flying schools 👍
@bluelights854 жыл бұрын
@@justmejonboy I've found Lomac to be very much like a 'club' rather than a school in both atmosphere and the way it's operated. All staff are very friendly and not stuck up etc at all. It's a nice place to be and lots of opportunities to fly out with other club members to different airfields etc. I would suggest going down and seeing for yourself and compare them that way. I particularly like flying G-WARW - it's a really nice aircraft to fly.
@justmejonboy4 жыл бұрын
Rob Crossley I can completely relate to so much of your last reply ! Partly why I stopped flying, found myself dreading turning up which can’t be right when £££’s are continually being handed over. I like the idea of trips with other ppls’s cost sharing etc. I think I’ll call in. The frequent flyer idea looked interesting (if I get that far and if they still it)

@charterplan6 жыл бұрын
I agree, but we thought when JC Bamford (JCB) bought the airfield, that Woodford would be back in use as an open airfield. He sold it for housing and one of the most historic places of manufacturing is being destroyed. Should have been saved and either used for freight or for air shows,private flights,or even imperial war museum North but not for housing!!!!
