Hi! Having the same issue…same noise type, but using the standard 5-Pin Midi cable…NO USB The noise even reacts as i touch the display and navigate the menu…just like the classic pc noise when it is connected directly to a P.A. system. Scenario: I Connect “via midi” My Modx8 (out) to a TC Helicon Voicelive Touch2 (in)…then the Yamaha Modx8 to the Audio Mixer, a Behringer X-32 Rack, by using standard “Jack” cables The noise disappears as soon as i disconnect the midi cable… I tried to solve it in every way…new audio cables, new expensive midi cable, different power outlets…no way to get out from this! If i make the same connection using My other keyboards…NS3 or Korg Kronos…NO ISSUE…i think the problem comes from the Modx8 Any suggestion? Thanx

Is everyone playing this many gigs with no power available to plug in? Don’t get me wrong, the fact that it has a battery option is fantastic for the odd occasion when there’s no power available, like an impromptu session at my backyard fire pit or something, but this doesn’t seem like something I’d be concerned about, like going through multiple sets of batteries at every gig.

Hi thanks for the feedback. I would say your observation is correct. When I jam with people with acoustic guitars and I play with them, the level of audio that comes out of the keyboard works for me and being on battery makes it ideal.

I think I might have a similar issue, but it only seems to come from the preamps on my model 12, only when using headphones plugged into the 12's phone jack. It sounded very similar to the way yours sounded. I'm working with a modx+

My new 8 Amazon Basic NiMH batteries lasted me at least 2 & 1/2 hours and still had 2/3 power according to the display. I have 16 more charged AA batteries. 24 batteries $24.68. I am still really interested in external battery packs. I also bought EBL AA AAA Battery Charger, 8-Bay Individual Charger for NiMH NiCD for $11.69 which worked fine.

I found a "JacobsParts 12V USB C Type-C PD Trigger 3ft 5A Power Cable" that looks like it might do the trick in conjunction with a USB C power bank. "Power all kinds of electronic devices with USB-C chargers and power banks Performs PD or QC power negotiation • Supports up to 5A Not all USB-C power supplies can support all voltages • If the power supply does not support the requested voltage then the next lowest voltage will be provided • The cable just performs the PD negotiation and passes the output." I think this means it'll work with a power supply that supports 12V, but you have to verify it can yourself, or else you'll get lower voltage which could damage the keyboard? Does that sound right?
@trevordixon3 ай бұрын
Sweet, it totally works 😁 I ordered a "Microconnect USBC-DC-5A-12V cable" which is what's available here in Switzerland and tried it with a USB-C power supply that says it can output 11V on it, and it worked great with my CK61. Not sure what the consequence of running on 11V for a long time would be. Anyway, going to order a 20000 mAh USB-C power bank that can output 12V, and I should be able to play outside for a long time and easily recharge. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hey Chris, here is a tip for you. When going into settings, to select an option, you don't have to toggle up and down to choose. You will notice the live set buttons (1-8) will illuminate to correspond with the options available for each menu. If there are 3 options to choose from, buttons 1-3 will be lit, and you can just choose there directly without click click clicking your way to your choice. BTW, thanks for your vids.

I'm thinking of getting a CK but not sure which 61 or 88. I'm an intermediate player and use a fully weighted Kawai es110 at present. I have heard that I could connect a CK 61 to my Kawai via midi and have control of new sounds on my Kawai as well as using the CK61. I also struggle with octaves on my left hand which makes me think a CK61 would be a better option than CK88. Have you done a video on how to connect an additional keyboard to the CK61?
@KCHomeStudioStuff-tg7dq5 ай бұрын
At the end of the day it is what works for you. I like the ck61 for its purpose and portability and of course sound quality. If you plan on making this keyboard portable then I would lean on the ck61. If stationary, 88 keys will have a different feel which could be nice :)

I noticed in your other videos that you are just mixing XLR and 1'4" as if they have the same output. Mics are +4 dB and line (keyboards) are -10 dB . That is 14 dB difference. there are specific inline transformers that work great. Fora stand, look at hercules or liquid stands for solid, non-wobbles.

I just wish it could charge the NiMH without me taking them out.

I know this problem well. I use two keyboards together, the sx600 and the sx900 connected to my notebook. I managed to solve this problem using the midi din connection of the sx900 connected to a behringer umc204 interface and then to the computer. As for the SX600, I connect it directly to the USB. Whenever possible, use the keyboard's midi connections! These interfaces built into the instrument are just a hassle. Use only with the computer without any other equipment attached.

Cool. So if you have several backing tracks on one USB stick do you have to go into the menu to select a file each time or is there a way to have them just play in order?
@KCHomeStudioStuff-tg7dq7 ай бұрын
You would create a patch and associate that wave file. So every time you select the patch, the keyboard would load that specific file.

I've watched a lot of videos and they mostly show sounds. I couldn't find any information about accompaniment styles on this instrument anywhere. I have a question: Does this synthesizer have similar styles to the PSR series? Or maybe something similar? Can I play a ready-made arrangement using my left hand (like on the PSR series)?
@KCHomeStudioStuff-tg7dq7 ай бұрын
The short answer for this keyboard is no. If you are looking to create arrangements or use existing , this keyboard might not fit those requirements. The MODX does and you can setup scenes and so on. Of course the pSR series does. Hope this helps.

Thanks for this video and explanation. I try to apply this too. I put some WAVs on a USB. One file is fine, but the other files are reported as illegal files. Any idea what I'm doing wrong. I can't really see whether this has anything to do with whether the file is 16 bits. If this is the problem, is there an easy way to convert a wav to 16 bits? Also, is there an easy way to quickly turn off the Audio trigger in a live setting? It seems like you have to perform a lot of actions to turn it off. Furthermore, fantastic stage board. Thanks for your answer.. Henk
@KCHomeStudioStuff-tg7dq7 ай бұрын
HI , the illegal file means that it does not recognize it as a valid wave file. I had that problem where the naming was weird. Also when you are browsing for files.. you might see file with ~~ at the end.. this seems to be stuff that the keyboard writes to the USB key. Try basic naming of files to see if it helps. If not, might be WAV file compatibility.. verify in the manual for requirements :). If you have files that are higher sampling rate, you can use www.audacityteam.org/ . In regards to Audio trigger.. you can go in the menu and turn it off. What suggest is you create a new patch without the trigger as well . So you can switch between .. example: DREAMOFU and DREAMOFU-TRG as a name for a song or something. Hope this helps.
