Obviously he's done it many times with great knowledge and experience. I am SO glad Geoff has popped up into the public eye again, as his past work speaks volumes. Bowie, Queen, Nick Drake, Stones, Stooges, Nico, Doors, etc etc incredible-sounding records. When I first met him, only a few people were into these things, now it's finally a secret that's gotten out.

this is porn for me! it's so expensive to purchase quality audio gear, I'm considering building my own, or at least modifying cheap gear to enhance its capabilities.

I've noticed that many tube circuts these days are low voltage powered instead of using high voltage transformers

Then the tubes are just for show, even battery powers radio tubes need 90-100V, the anode needs high voltage for amplification to occur.

underpowering a tube can in some cases provide a less colored sound.

A transformer ratio of 200:10K gives a lot more gain than 5 or 6 dB! In fact the ratio is ca. 1:7, this means 17 dB gain. (Unloaded)

Great video Geoff, some of my favourite records by John Martyn and Nick Drake were recorded on your consoles :-) Few questions though, just wondering why none of those modules would need re-capping? I have been told by many gear of that age would require re-capping. I have a old Bozak disco mixer from 1976 which has Frako caps and been told I should re-cap it before I replace the pots as the caps could leak DC and slowly destroy the new potentiometers.

It's VERY likely (almost certain) that this is the desk used on Fleetwood Mac's incredible "Then Play On" which featured "Oh Well" and "Rattlesnake Shake". Some great potential there, good luck with restoration. Also looking forward to the new modules... will be quite popular, I think!
