I added duckweed into my pond with about 10 minnows and 2 of them died I’m thinking the duckweed overgrew and it blocked the sun/ took away some of the oxygen from the fish

Is the white dot BELOW the dorsal found on N class? Or is it only if the white “bleeds” into the dorsal fin, can one suspect the line has impurities?

There was a dead fish in ever tank at Petsmart last time I took my doughter there. Never went back. Give away all my gear. If you love fish, you help put an end to this hobby.

Ramshorns will even lay eggsacks on the shells of other snails! LOL! I have a 20 gallon tank which I had been keeping some mystery snails in, but which also has ramshorns in it. I moved all the mystery snails out a while back, and now I can remove a hundred ramshorns a day, every day, and never seem to run out. It is insane. Luckily, my local fish store takes them all, mostly to use as food for their puffers and other snail-eating fish. To give you an idea of how crazy fast these suckers will reproduce if given the right conditions, in the past 12 months, out of just two tanks (40 and 20 gallons), I have delivered over 30,000 ramshorns to my LFS. Yes, THIRTY THOUSAND of them in 12 months, from just two tanks. It boggles the mind what these snails are capable of!

I've had an infestation of planaria and pest snails in one my 40 gal planted tanks before and introduce 3 yoyo loaches. After about a month or so I've never had any planaria issue afterwards. They also completely got rid of all the pest snails too.

They are awesome....nothing cleans better.....just make sure theres not alot of excess food in the tank, then the ecosystem within your aquarium should cintrol their numbers. Having fish that hunt them is also a good idea. My Ruby Barbs definitely help to keep that control.

Dude. I set up a tank, dechlorinate. Let it run for an hour or two and then just put in the fish. Ive never ever ever aclamated a fish, or cycled a tank. And i havent lost 1 single fish and i have 10 tanks, everything from galaxy rasboras, to pea puffers and plattys to shovel nose catfish and oscars. Why keep fish in quarenteen for 2 weeks? Jut make sure you do a watwr change every singe week for a month that first month, because beneficial bacteria is still building up. And then your good. I water change my tanks every 2 to sometimes 4 weeks. Through out the old whives tales omg

And “dude”, I drive all the time and have never been in a car accident, so I guess that means it is pointless for me to wear a seat belt… Precautions and redundant safety measures are not without reason. It’s good that you have fish safe tap water and the stock you get are all healthy enough. That doesn’t mean “extra efforts” are unwarranted.

I like the looks of duckweed.I spent time in the Louisiana bayou and loved the place.BUT,I let the duck weed cover the surface of my water and the fish began dying off rapidly. Then I realized the toxic gases need to escape from the water surface.I removed enough duckweed to where it only covered about 60% of the surface, and my remaining fish were fine. I still have duckweed in the tank after 3 years, and keep it under control covering only 60% of the surface and all is well.

Hmm even if a plant is a slow grower, if you have enough of it then it will suck up a fair amount of nitrates as I learned that with java ferns as my java ferns grew fairly slowly but took up half the volume of my aquarium.

I had a couple that looked like they was dying.I clipped off the dead leaves, and planted them out of water and added just a TINY bit of Flourish aquatic plant fertilizer, and tho it took a month and a half, the plants were revived.

yes very nice and what I like is there are enough tanks that are not too big, I'm just returning to the hobby after several years and have seen fish rooms with many tanks with quite a few being large which is not the way I want to go. However, watching this video has certainly given me some inspiration and much to think about ? I have now liked and subscribed to your channel Paul from the UK
