We have - I do two things... I get a big black trash bag just as a liner depending on the ground cover (ie lots of pine needles) then I get some biodegradable bags on amazon that work OK. you need to get the larger size to fit the square toilet. The trash bag liner just protects the actual "poo bag" from puncture. I reuse the liner if nothing leaked. The biodegradable bag I toss.

If you mean while showering in the ensuite we just throw them over the roof rack. If you're talking about all dirty laundry, we installed a hurrican tailgate hatch. It doesn't hold a lot of clothes but for a weekend trip it will hold our dirty laundry out of the way. We have a video of installing it. For longer trips we bought some packing cubes that hold clean laundry on one side and dirty laundry on the other. Totally separated so that you don't get any bad smells on your clean laundry.

It did help regulate the temperature better especially when it was windy. HOWEVER - about a month ago we bought an Omnia Oven and that has since replaced our Coleman camp oven. The Omnia was just so much lighter and used up far less gas than the Coleman. We've cooked Lasagna, Cinnamon Rolls, Brownies and meatloaf in the Omnia and I must say that I won't be bringing my Coleman anymore.

Well, you made the layout a lot more complicated than it had to be and made the cuts inefficiently. Working from the edge instead of cutting it in the middle would have left you a piece that would have made another cover with only 2 edges to sew.

Did you figure a solution to use smaller bags?
@overlandeffex
@overlandeffex Жыл бұрын
We actually did. We found compostable smaller bags on Amazon and we clip the bag on three sides with large office binder clips. The bags on amazon are large enough to where when you put the seat down and push the bag through the hole it gives you left over bag to clip on the sides and front. I believe these are the bags we used. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079N33LKC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

We found that it does use slightly less fuel. The biggest benefit for us was that it was easier to keep the temperature more steady. Especially in windy conditions. Fantastic! Love the modifications you've made and it's still packable. I had been strongly considering the camp chef oven and stove combo as we have a more "permanent" camp site but I found I just didn't want to buy another appliance. Plus I just broke my propane distribution system and have to try and fix that. *grumbles* Something you might want to consider is either a pair of pliers to open the door or a pair of welding gloves. I've been useing welding gloves for a while now on the campsite to handle hot grills or my cast iron pan. They offer a little more dexterity and can be relatively inexpensive. Plus they don't melt like oven mitts. I bought my pair on sale at Princess Auto for 10$ CAD. Happy Camping!
@overlandeffex
@overlandeffex Жыл бұрын
Yeah every time we use the camp oven we use this blanket. It just seems to make the temperature more stable and it uses a little less gas. Thanks for the tip on the gloves. Our red knob still is staying pretty cool when we open the door. I'm sure as it gets older and the plastic starts to break down we'll be using the glove method. Have a great one!
