That's correct, we have briefly mentioned it in a few other videos, but not this one specifically. The Hub App is a great app we were quite impressed with it on our Splendor Cruise in November.

Watching from Sydney, we were up the road from you guys in 9234, a four berth and it was amazingly comfortable with all of us in it. The beds were so comfortable as well.

@ At this stage, it would seem so. It will be interesting to see once the Dry Docks begin to Happen. Adventure is due to drydock in Feb/March 2026 and Encounter after that. It seems to be a slow and steady integration. Stay tuned as we will be onboard the first Carnival Encounter sailing out of Brisbane at the end of March.

@ is Gatsby night p&o’s formal night, and if you don’t dress up, will that prevent you from getting into the MDR? White night is easy enough to pack for, but not sure about packing ‘proper’ pants and shirt for the gadsby, though it does look fun

@@patrick8035 Great Question Patrick. No Gatsby is just a theme night. Bianco (White) night is probably a little more formal. Matt often will wear shorts, nice chino style ones though, to dinner but he ALWAYS wears a collared shirt - even if it is just a nice polo. The easiest thing for men for Gatsby is visit a $2 store and see if they have a cheap pair of suspenders and bow tie. Matt got a bowtie, suspenders and hat recently for about $20 for the three pieces total.

@patrick8035 Many people wear shirts. We just like to dress more "smart casual". They certainly won't turn you away. The most important thing is to be comfortable and enjoy the experience.

Great review! Thanks to your reviews I’ve taken the plunge and booked with P&O to Moreton Island in June! Hoping that apart from using the Carnival Hub app and having some free pizza, the rest of it is still essentially the same P&O product. Very eager to see how you both get on with your cruise post takeover. Question with P&O though - usually on other cruiselines you get to choose your room at the time that you book, but it seems like with P&O you have to wait until you’ve paid in full? Or have I just done something wrong?

In Regards to booking your room there are different fare types so the lowest one which is called go you dont get to choose your room but if you choose value or value plus you then get to select you cabin. @ I reckon Carnival/P&O should have referral codes or something - I think you would get a few for sure 😁 it’s also cool that you try different rooms, a mix of inside and balcony cabins. Are you both pretty good with seasickness? A few cruises in, and I think I’m ok, but I’ve always sailed midship with a balcony just in case.

@patrick8035 Matt used to insist on Mid ship low down. He is much more flexible now days. But he has never had sea sickness. Deb takes one tablet at night before bed and has never had an issue.

@JJ-vy2rh They are, but she is due for wet dock in March 2025, and then Dry Dock in 2026 so it will be interesting to see if anything changes. We don't spend a lot of time in our rooms, even with a balcony, so a comfy bed is our main concern.

Can I just ask you talking about a lot of cruises. When i went on a 8 day cruise I put on 5 kg and it took me 6 mounths to lose it. How are you planning to deal with the situation

Hey, thanks for the question. We have certainly learnt ways for this not to happen, we generally eat twice a day not 3 times and take the stairs as much as possible. We often do between 15,000 and 20,000 steps a day so it's just about having a balance. Deb managed to lose 2 kilos on our last cruise 😆

@debandmattchat hahaha! Seriously, we had gone from Royal Caribbean to Splendour and there was NO comparison. Like dining 5 star and then dining in a soup kitchen! We go on Rock The Boat cruises, so unfortunately we can't pick the ship. Oh well. Maybe I'll pack sandwiches this year 🤣🤣

Hated our room. Beds were uncomfortable, twin beds so close together. Hardly any power points, none in the bathroom.

@debandmattchat Hi! We're on Ovation to NZ on 24 March. I then fly to Norway for 3 weeks in July to visit my daughter and 3 granddaughters! After that it's b2b's on Anthem 27 Feb (Sth Pacific) & 8 March 2026 ( Tassie). September 2026 flying to Milos Greece for my daughter's wedding and also visiting Norway again. We've also just splurged and booked a Captain's Suite on Carnival Splendor (Great Barrier Reef) in Feb 2027.

Where did you get the storage over door hangers from? How handy there’s 5 of us going on a carnival splendour cruise later and I think they would be great!

I have gotten all the storage hangers from Amazon. The only thing I would say is I didn't use them on carnival splendor as the doors don't allow for the over hanging. You could possibly put one in the cupboard but we only had an interior on that ship and I couldn't use any of it. Check out our carnival splendor room tour where we show the outlay of the cabin.
