Thanks all. Big Blue was getting a sweet push from the incoming so we put a little angle to it and let her just cozy on in there. Practically parked herself!😁. Cheers 🥃

Dude! I'm totally blown away that you have this footage. I lived and worked in Ma'alaea at this time and my parents were visiting from the mainland and witnessed this. It was such an epic day. It came to life again with the swell in July 2022! Thanks for sharing. Oh, and there was a DVD that was circulating of this epic 2005 swell on Maui. If anyone knows anything about this, or has a copy, please DM me. Thx! Mahalos!

i lived in Kihei the summer of 73, I swear it broke at least three times if not more, I surfed mudflats (left) with only another person or two. We could see the break from the lanai of the house we were renting. it must've been a rare summer, as it breaks only so often these days, but then again I'm rarely down there when it does

Thanks. I lived on Maui for two years in the late 80s and maalea freight trains broke only one time. And I happen to be sick that day. Bummers.

if anyone is wondering why so many people are dropping in, the wave is usually too fast for anyone to make the full ride so people just rush

With the word "Sailboat" in the title one expected to see docking under sail. Very disappointing. Also, with bow thruster and fixed prop, aided by a tidal current apparently pushing the vessel onto the dock, one assumes mauiboy is not bragging or showing off because there is nothing to brag about. Bona fides; ten years sailing, and docking, on San Francisco Bay, though on nothing as snazzy as a Benteau (Beneteau?) 49. A bow thruster? Jeez!
