Love the idea looking at building one myself out of 50x50 alloy. Just with the closed dimensions you say it's built out of 60x60 and 40x40 but closed dimensions is 130mm. Where does the extra 30 mm come into it. Just wondering if I'll have enough closed depth with 50x50 thanks
@daysoffdownunder32212 жыл бұрын
It’s 60x40 on bottom and 40x40 on top and then around 10-20mm for seal in between and then a couple mm for checker plate on top and solar panels etc. It’ll be tight but should be ok mate

Hey mate, question on the 12v panel. I've got myself a MITS canopy and about to wire up the 12v, my plan was to run all the wires behind the panel as much as possible but one thing I didn't factor in was the unistrut channels. Did you drill holes through that with grommets to run cables through? I'm thinking that's the way to go but also wondering if you went that route how you manage with taking the panel on and off with the cables going through the holes?
@daysoffdownunder32212 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, yeah I drilled through unistrut and put grommets and made the cables long enough so I can drop the panel when needed👌🏼👍🏼

Great work mate! How did you mount it to the Mits canopy? We’re trying to figure out the best way to mount a RTT our new Mits canopy. Cheers
@daysoffdownunder32212 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I drilled through floor of tent where my bracing is below the floor so it goes through the box section aluminium bracing then used spring nuts that sit inside the ally extrusion rails on the roof of mits canopy, I got them to weld my rail in a specific spot to suit the tent. Hope that makes sense. I’ve always wondered how you would mount a tent that has similar rails on the bottom though, tricky one

Really nice set up. I keep looking lately at yours and others rigs and it is doing my head in a bit. I've just ordered a Rugged X but with a Ute Master Lid. The thing that bugs me most is that I can't fit a bull bar on it, as the one that it comes with can't be replaced apparently. Not sure if anyone has any ideas on that? Also the more I watch presentations like yours makes me think that the canopy is the way to go. I have a big caravan that I use my 200 with, but I hope to get back to basics and do more track camping in the traditional sense and use the Lux. Can you give a rough idea of the cost of the canopy? Although I am over west so that probably rubs me out anyway.
@daysoffdownunder32213 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah I’ve heard you can’t change the front bar on the rugged x… yeah we love having a canopy! Tray and canopy was around 20k but there’s definitely cheaper ones around, I just liked the look and strength of the mits alloy.
