Hey mate, question on the 12v panel. I've got myself a MITS canopy and about to wire up the 12v, my plan was to run all the wires behind the panel as much as possible but one thing I didn't factor in was the unistrut channels. Did you drill holes through that with grommets to run cables through? I'm thinking that's the way to go but also wondering if you went that route how you manage with taking the panel on and off with the cables going through the holes?

Really nice set up. I keep looking lately at yours and others rigs and it is doing my head in a bit. I've just ordered a Rugged X but with a Ute Master Lid. The thing that bugs me most is that I can't fit a bull bar on it, as the one that it comes with can't be replaced apparently. Not sure if anyone has any ideas on that? Also the more I watch presentations like yours makes me think that the canopy is the way to go. I have a big caravan that I use my 200 with, but I hope to get back to basics and do more track camping in the traditional sense and use the Lux. Can you give a rough idea of the cost of the canopy? Although I am over west so that probably rubs me out anyway.
@daysoffdownunder32213 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah I’ve heard you can’t change the front bar on the rugged x… yeah we love having a canopy! Tray and canopy was around 20k but there’s definitely cheaper ones around, I just liked the look and strength of the mits alloy.

Awesome build, convinced me to go an upright fridge. Got a couple of questions for you as I'm looking to gets a Mits on a Hilux soon. What did you do with the tub after it was removed? Was thinking most people would trailer it home and sell. What was main reason you went an SR5 over an SR?
@daysoffdownunder32213 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yeah we love our upright so much, best decision we made (after the mits) for sure! I just left the tub with pinnacle 4x4 who fitted my tray, looked at selling and they were going for $200 so wasn’t worth trying to get it back to cairns to sell. Main reason for SR5 was the extra comforts, preferred the dash and interior, the led headlights etc, just think they look better and hold their value a bit more I guess, not sure of the differences on the latest models though

Awsome build m8 im thinking of getting a similar set up with a new hilux just qurious after that set up what weight is the most you can tow
@daysoffdownunder32213 жыл бұрын
If i have car fully loaded the most i could legally tow is about 2.3T which sucks.. however mine is a 2019 model and GCM is only 5650KG. The new 2021 models are 5850KG i believe. Also the GVM upgrade i got only increases the GVM. I kind of wish i went the Lovells kit GVM/GCM upgrade as it increases GVM to 3500KG and GCM to 6500KG. I have heard they may be passing a law to legally upgrade GCM's so kinda hoping that happens... I still like the old fashioned rule of thumb in that you shouldn't tow anything heavier than the car itself.. the fact all these dual cabs are coming out with 3.5T "towing capacity" blows my mind...
