I took the sheet music down because I didn’t feel confident of copyright permissions, publicly sharing sheet music for the tune. But if you message me here I can hook you up with something… www.danieldelaneymusic.com/contact

We have charts for the essential melodies of all these tunes. They’re leadsheets in treble clef usually. Bass clef versions can be made of course. But the arrangement is improvised. What format are you looking for?

I would try this but im scared to mess up my bow...
@groovecelloacademy3 ай бұрын
No worries! You get to decide how much force you use. 😂 No reason to be too hard on your bow - it’s just a scrape of the hair along the strings. And it’s not as forceful as you might think. Do beginners occasionally lose a bow hair or two? Sure. :) But once you get the hang of it, there is no danger to the bow. Consider if you’ve ever dropped your bow while trying to play with a relaxed hand! Many of us have. That’s dangerous. This really isn’t. :) I hope you’ll try it!

I would like to purchase the sheet music for these two songs so that I can play them myself. Is there any way you could make them available in your shop? I would be very happy about it! Hi Daniel! That is awesome, love how you play !! I am a classical composer and pianist and would be very interested in knowing how you notate this kinda playing for the cello (the chopping, triple chopping + the last part when you "make the beats hitting" the cello with the right hand. Is there a way you could help me know that ? Or direct me towards some notation sheets of some kind? I would really like to try and use some of those effects in future works. Many thanks in advance for your answer, if you have time of course. And congrats again for all your works and videos
@groovecelloacademy11 ай бұрын
Hi Veronique. Thanks for your comments and question! Notation is still somewhat custom per composition or per composer /engraver. I guess because there is so much to notate and we haven’t decided as a community yet what to notate and what to leave to the player. Most composers seem to choose their own different note heads and printed objects, and include a preface to explain the notation and the technique.
@groovecelloacademy11 ай бұрын
I personally use x noteheads and slash noteheads for chops, and then diamond and triangle noteheads for triple chops, pique flicks, and the like. I haven’t seen the had percussion notated anywhere and don’t currently have a satisfactory solution for that!
@groovecelloacademy11 ай бұрын
Lastly there’s Casey Dreissen’s Chop Notation Project which is his work on standardizing all of this. But again I don’t believe he’s covered hand percussion! Cuz he’s a fiddle player

Well played! Nice shape to the melody and interesting use of vibrato and the bow! Thank you. 🙂
@groovecelloacademy Жыл бұрын
Thanks, Steve! Vibrato in Irish music is an ornament that often sneaks in near the end of a note, unlike it’s role in classical style (tone color starting at the beginning of the note, assisting the singing tone). The bowing is where so much expression lives! Glad it landed 😁
