Very nice. Do you have any suggestions or useful links to resources on the equipment and setup involved in live looping cello?

Really glad I found this channel! I'd like to know what equipment you use. Not sure what pedal that is... Also, just some ideas for future videos... I'd like to see you improvise on some Jimmy Hendrix songs (Little Wing... Castles Made of Sand... etc...) and maybe explain how the pentatonic scale works on the cello in relation to the guitar. I'm great at improvising on the guitar using the different zones on the fretboard but I still haven't quite mentally wrapped my head around it on the cello, with only the 4 strings... Also, I saw your Seagull acoustic in the background and I have that same exact acoustic. They make such great guitars in my opinion. Thanks again man. I'm going to tell everyone about this channel.

Johnny I’m so glad this stuff is resonating, man. I’m using an old JamMan looper, a DPA 4099 condenser mic, and an Edirol EDB-1 floor preamp. It’s a very basic setup but the mic is what gets the natural cello sound. With the open mic you have to use headphones; nothing open air or else it’s feedback city. I’ll take you seriously about pentatonics. They go a long way on cello for sure. But they live very differently from on guitar. Do you know your blues scale on cello? In one position? Then you’ve got your pentatonic shape too. Maybe that’s a future video 😀 Thanks for checking in! Cheers!

Yes! Seagull makes wonderful guitars. I’ve had that thing for 25 years and it sounds better and better the longer i play it

@@groovecelloacademy Thanks bud! I've heard about the DPA mic. I'm now seriously considering it. I've been recording with mostly a large diaphragm condenser mic called the Stellar X2 and sometimes the Rode M5 stereo mics. I bet a blend between them could sound really great. My room acoustics aren't the best at this time though. I've watched videos on the cello blues scales, but yea, it's quite different. I just need it to sink in I guess, and play around with it until it feels natural like it does on the guitar. The mind it a peculiar thing. One minute you're lost and tired. The next, you wake up and understand the universe! Cheers!
