If you have the first 2, you're pretty good already! The ETFs kind of rebalance themselves. Are you not happy with your current portfolio's performance or is it something you do every year?

Hey bro! My portfolio is now 50%beat and 50% vfv. Over the past few years I bought usd ETFs because I sold my apples shares at a profit. I have VTI and qqqm. Would it make sense to sell these but then I’ll have us cash and I don’t want to by Canadian ETFs and lose money on the conversion fee. I’d rather keep the ETFs as I won’t need the money until I retire in 22 years. Thanks for your input.

Since risk is at an all-time high right now, perhaps you should be a little more patient and return when it has decreased. Alternatively, you can consult a trained financial expert for strategy.

I disagree. i believe if you have more money, it's easier to double because imagine the interest you can on a million. Even at 4 % thats huge, and the snowball gets rollin. Also, you get preferential rates plus more opportunities to invest that the poor don't have access to. But yeah, getting that first million is a huge challenge in itself.
@CanadianFinancePro17 күн бұрын
Hm, I think its harder, I'm diversifying and investing in so many things, some will fail, bringing down my overall return. Like, it was much easier for me to go from 100K to 200K, I dont know how to go from 2M to 4M. I'm too scared to take the same risk.

When people say "max out your TFSA or FHSA or whatever", what do they mean by max out?
@CanadianFinancePro19 күн бұрын
Every Canadian over 18 automatically gets allocated the same TFSA and FHSA amount every Jan 1. If you're turning 18 on Jan 1, you'll get $7,000 available to be invested in TFSA and $8,000 invested in FHSA. If you're 36, you've had a TFSA building for years, so your personal TFSA availability is $95.5K as of 2024 but its increasing to 102.5K (I think) on Jan 1 2025. So, when people say max it out, they just mean to deposit the cash & invest to YOUR specific balance.

You said doubling a $1000 to $2000? Please explain.
@CanadianFinancePro17 күн бұрын
Its easy to put all your $ on a call option during a companies earnings and doubling BUT only with $1,000 or even $5,000. Its just not as easy to do it with $1M (if you do, you're not too smart), like a 50/50 gamble on a call option, its easy with $1,000.

Hi, I'm new to this. I started RRSP account and looking to invest in VOO or VFV. I live in Canada and have no idea which one to get. I'm planning to keep adding more on a monthly basis. It'll be long term investment. What do you recommend?
@CanadianFinancePro20 күн бұрын
Hi Bosco, thanks for reaching out. I believe VOO is better for the RRSP since you'll get a refund on the US dividend tax, however, its in USD, so you might end up losing $ on the currency exchange. For me, since I already have USD (from selling options), I buy VOO in my RRSP. If you're unable to get a decent rate or low fee on converting from CAD to USD, then I would go VFV, hope that helps!

Hello. Thanks for the great info. I am just getting started with investing into etf's. I am wondering if the list of companies in the etf is set in stone. For instance, if I bought some today but in 2 years, one of the companies no longer provide dividend or is not doing so well, will there be someone who will be changing the portfolio of the etf? Hopefully my question makes sense Thanks!

Adrienne Clarkson is not the only one. You have just become more conscious of it now. It has been going on for decades, look at history. It just gotten worst in the last 30 years. Brian Mulroney ex Prime Minister cheating with investment around 1998 for millions. He should have been charge but gotten away with millions which his children benefit from now. Canada is not a third world country but the 1% with the millions lie, cheat commit fraud & get away with it. Check out most famous or wealthy person in whole world there is a history of lies & cheating. What shock me the most is the middle class & working class people love them the most while they are taking their money. U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission charge Kim Kardashian who payed $1.26 million after being charged with illegally promoting crypto currency scheme Oct. 3, 2022.There is more cheating she has done.They did say what you do not know will never hurt you! The only thing one can do is try & make lots of money for your self. Good Luck!
