Where do you recommend the putting the micron guage? I have a compact vacuum gauge and it stays showing 760,000 microns when I have it on the low side. I tested the pump and the gauge separate from pulling on a system and my microns dropped on the gauge so I know my pump and gauge are both working. Just dosent drop below 760,000 microns when it’s on a system. Other techs have been able to pull vacuum on the same systems with not so good setups and it shows the microns dropping

Is it normal for the micron guage to read atmospheric pressure (760,000) until it removes enough moisture to show a change in microns? I have a standard Hilmor micron guage that does this.

It's a good tool but, there is too much play in the depth stop. It will easily allow the flare bell to be oversized.
