Getting through the whole video with all that staph infection on your leg is highly praisable. Except for the poor blue belt you are infecting.

There are several other factors such as your training partners improving at a similar rate to you making it harder to see progress. Also an interference effect when learning something new interferes with aspects of your main game.

What kind of moronic thinking is "hey I'll just have to break you if you don't tap" ... worst kind of ego, and on white belt.. mate, maybe he can't even tap, which happened to me, belly down flattened hands trapped and neck cranked I couldn't move anything and only yelled barely... you crank up and let them escape if they cant don't tap you let go, but you have to establish that they can and know that they need to tap, you don't fucking break someone for tap.. fucking shit and egos in BJJ...

100%! For those that aren't aware, Brian Glick is one of John Danaher's early black belts. He is a wealth of knowledge and is an excellent communicator/teacher.

Great video I am going to be practicing this a ton. One question, when putting my arm behind their head to prevent back control I have run into issues before with partners not letting me get my arm that high and coming up for arm triangle (purple belt at the gym is excellent at this). How do I prevent this? Or does controlling their leg with my other arm stop their ability to get on top for this?
@daslate3974Күн бұрын
first your weight on their bottom leg slows them down, then secondly the crossframe he shows across their hips prevents their back take because it keeps them in front of you.

Really wish local comps had longer matches. I find it difficult to accumulate fatigue on my opponent in a 5min match, leaving enough time for a takedown/pass into a sub :\

Very good video mate. I've been looking into John Kehoe's work lately and have actually started one of his courses. He speaks a great deal about the inner and outer world and how we can guide and control our inner dialogue and how that influences our subconscious. Once again great video and am looking forward to watching more! 👍🏻

For fundamentals classes it makes sense to warmup with basic movements like hip escapes, bridges, break falls, shrimps, rolls etc. Vast majority have trouble doing them at start so when best to drill them? Have to learn them at some point. For all level classes we focus more on drilling takedowns etc. to warm up. For the running around in a circle a few minutes, tbh I do like it as it puts me in the mood.

I think it should be allowed in all sport under the care of a medical professional. Testosterone levels are a genetic lottery, why just because someone hit that jackpot should they have the advantage. If everyone had access to the same level of T, it comes down to skill. Gordon Ryan doesn't just win because he's on test, he won because he has years of skill and experience. CJ is on them too... Its probably the fairest competition in the world.

Completely agree mate, 10,20,30 minutes of warm up is a waste of time (Jetts is a great place for that ) warm up with appropriate moves ❤

Can you make a video on how to slow a young person down? I have this one guy who’s 26 and he’s a blue belt like me but I’m 48 and he always wants to roll with me but I hate it. He’s all over the place he never gets tired and always gives me black eyes haha

Thanks,Josh.One thing I have trouble with is finding enough opportunities to work on certain techniques when the coach is the one dictating the training sessions.It would be great to have open mat more often to practice but those are infrequent and mainly happen just around the holidays.

#1 - not tracking your training sessions in any way #2 - not working on your weaknesses #3 - going 100% / relying heavily on physical attributes
