Hello RH2RACING Team, thanks for your video. I got a question about the rod orientation. Is there a need for orient the "noses" of rod bearings to one side of the engine Block? A lot of people suggest to orient them to the Intake side, in your video at 19:40 it looks like you are putting them to the exhaust side. I got confused about this Could you pls help me out?

I like the video. I only have a couple of suggestions. Always take pictures before and after removing each part. Use Ziploc bags to store and label all the bolts and nuts. Use Denso O2 sensors, they are OEM and you don't have to mess with the wires.

I watched all of the engine build videos, and I see you said you plan to turbo this car. In the engine building were the wiseco pistons a low compression piston to accommodate more boost, or do you do the NA style piston and are just going to run low boost?
@rh2racing2 жыл бұрын
They were the Wiseco forged pistons at 8:5/1 low enough for boost

Are the actual engine blocks just stock? What was done to them? I’m very new to this and I’m a bit confused
@rh2racing2 жыл бұрын
The engine block in this build is stock. It was sent to the machine shop to be decked and honed. Everything was cleaned checked and measured to make sure it was 100% in spec.
@crayonbox462 жыл бұрын
@@rh2racing what are the measurements u need to know? I know that there are prolly a lot so you don’t really need to answer that question lol
@rh2racing2 жыл бұрын
@@crayonbox46 that is what a machine shop is for. You can look up all the specs but I guarantee you don't have the right machines to do the job. I wouldn't worry about that part as much. After they do their work there are many things to measure. I don't have the specs handy to list though.

This engine series is great so far learned a lot and nice to see it come together from the ground up. I'm about to put in that same clutch kit, how'd you do your break-in for the clutch or were you just focused on the engine? Also, what are the "speed holes" you got on the rear fenders? Drainage or something from a previous kit?
@rh2racing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! With the clutch I pretty much followed the mfg recommendations for it, nothing fancy. The holes in the fenders are from a kit I was testing (and failing) to mount. I did get it installed (really need to get a video up about it). I still need to tweak it but haven't finished it yet. Stay tuned for more!

Great video! Im about to build my own miata engine soon, does every ring set demands grinding?
@rh2racing3 жыл бұрын
As far as I know. It also depends on if you are building the motor for boost or not. When the engine heats up, and with boost it heats up a lot, the rings need to expand. If there isn't enough room to expand, bad things happen and will crack the piston and more.

Dyno results?
@rh2racing3 жыл бұрын
Haven't dyno'd it yet. I will when I get the turbo installed. I figure I'm at or below stock hp levels for a 96 1.8 . I just got the forged rebuild done but it's at 8.5:1 compression so I think I'll be lucky if it's making 100hp to the wheels.
@buddyyount25883 жыл бұрын
@@rh2racing Thanks - for me, the comparison one exhaust to another is what difference it makes on the dyno with all else being the same. Sound is important, but performance impact is more so - but of course everyone has different priorities!
