Miata 1.8L Forged Engine Build Part 2 Crank and Piston Install
Today on RH2RACING we begin the process of building our forged engine. We are at Leroy Engineering in Chardon Ohio to start the build on our forged engine! It's been a long time coming and it's finally time. If you would like to know what it takes to build an engine capable of 500 hp this is the video series to watch. This is a very in-depth look at engine building and may not be for everyone. We go over specs and measurements as well as tips and tricks to make sure that your engine will perform at it's best. This isn't a "throw it together" build. This motor is built strong and ready for boost. That part of the build will be coming up soon. So sit back and enjoy. This will be a 4-5 part series from bare block to finished motor. We also have a video that will be just a time lapse to quickly highlight the build if that is more your style.

Hello RH2RACING Team, thanks for your video. I got a question about the rod orientation. Is there a need for orient the "noses" of rod bearings to one side of the engine Block? A lot of people suggest to orient them to the Intake side, in your video at 19:40 it looks like you are putting them to the exhaust side. I got confused about this Could you pls help me out?

The rod caps, it’s the orientation of the bearing tangs both in the same side? Tang to tang? Cheers

Great video! Im about to build my own miata engine soon, does every ring set demands grinding?

As far as I know. It also depends on if you are building the motor for boost or not. When the engine heats up, and with boost it heats up a lot, the rings need to expand. If there isn't enough room to expand, bad things happen and will crack the piston and more.
