Pan American is just as quite...true it is not as refined as the BMW is but it's still in class area of the BMW..and it's to me just as good looking as the BMW

I just bought a new to me 2021 special in gauntlet Grey metallic. It comes with an extended warranty for three years and I put the ultimate trekker package on it with a Vance and Hines HO exhaust. It was more comfortable for me than a road glide. I am excited for delivery 😊

The Pan america is mor fun to ride, such a brillant engine but since a few months my clutch is too hard and this is not hydraulic like on the GS. I hope Harley could fix it and add a quickshifter on my bike or i will look again on BMW GS 1250 or Africa twin !

G.S will be fine, until the drive shaft fails, also the A.B.S problems many of them seem to get. + other niggles believe me you will get with them. The point I am making is that a motorcycle does not have as many moving parts as say your average car./truck/van etc. Then why oh why after all the years of making motorcycles and basically the same motorcycle they cannot produce a reliable trouble free motorcycle. Incidentally back in the day i.e. the 1970-80's I owned B.M.W R65 and R 85, both having the same drive shaft issues as the present G.S. Want a reliable comfortable go virtually anywhere motorcycle and not a pose machine then go and get yourself a Yamaha Tenere.

I love these reviews. What you and others say about the comfort is key to me. I want a comfy cruiser that can also go off-road when I want to go for a short adventure. Won’t be doing that much though. Mostly gravel roads and two track every now and then. Probably nothing a Subaru couldn’t get through. I want to be able to put miles on it though.

The lack of symmetry in the engine bay is also something I don't appreciate on the Pan America. It's not a huge issue, but it's still "not noth'n". 8 months on, any regrets on moving to the GS platform given the financials involved?

I live in Mexico City. Bought a 2021 and had endless issues. Had to take legal action with the dealer for them to agree to buy it back (market price) and get a discount on a 2022. I agreed and got the 2022… BIG MISTAKE. Again issue after issue. I have been a Harley guy for the last 8 years and I’m done with them. Their customer service is non existent. Technicians have no clue every time. Ridiculous. Selling the PanAm and leaving the brand for good.

Shoulda bought a Triumph or BMW. HD produced a rushed prototype to help save the flagging sales. They told reviewer to make it sound like a BMW GSA killer otherwise they would ban them from other test bikes. Three years after launch and used low mile PA’s are selling for $12000 under the $28000 dealers were marking them up to. Way to go Harley!

I don't think anyone would argue the quality of BMW, and after watching your video on the gripes about your PAS, I agree and sympathize with your observations. I have a 2021 PAS, and I have had my problems which resulted in a new engine, there have been a few other irritations. Maybe it would have been wise to wait for a few iterations, but I'd been wanting to get out of my H-D Ultra Limited and onto an Adv for a few years, and if you've owned a H-D before, you'll know they can come up with VERY compelling deals when trading up 😊 Anyway that brings me to why I'm responding, of course if I paid cash for my motorcycles and cars then then the cost of trading would be lessened, but add financing and it's real easy to get upside down on a deal. I did get an excellent tradin on my Ultra which I know I couldn't get at KTM, BMW, Ducati or Triumph which was a big decider in my getting the PAS. Knowing there are ppl riding Pan America's around the world gives me confidence that H-D will or has already worked out the mechanics issues or build inconsistencies. I don't like that there are pipes and wires all over the bike, H-D do need to clean the PAS up and address some of the tacky design aspects, especially if they are really serious about this market. Not addressing these items is a sure way for the PAS to become another V-Rod. For the time being, if I have no more issues, then I'll keep mine; it is an amazing machine, and I have a smile on my face whenever riding it, there's all the power and handling I need to ride with my friends on the other brands I mentioned above. Enjoy your BMW buddy, there really isn't a right or wrong choice.

The BMW GS bikes are top of the line also come at a top of the line price. I opted for a just as good bike at half the price. Cheaper and more reliable but not as refined.

Most un-American video I've ever seen. 😂 I had one of those GS explorers. Off road . Front way to heavy and not well balanced bike. Nose dives in the sand and gravel. Pan-America under low throttle walked right through the sand and gravel. Plus the GS is a Pig . To heavy. The GS was created for the 60 and over crowd with a bad prostate and arthritis for street use mostly. I hated mine. Lost a ton of money. One main reason is the BMW dealers are far and few. Can't get service anywhere. I took a test drive on a Pan-America through some rugged conditions. It soaked up the rocks ripples creeks and horse powered out smoothly. And thats what you want when dealing with rugged conditions. GS had to high of a power curve. That's made for the street not Off road. Compared both bikes. GS gets high marks touring. Gets low marks for Off road. Pana America gets high marks for Off road and handling in serious condition. Low marks the seat mount. You fix that and you got a solid winner. Opinion; if I'm traveling down a street and some moron pulls out in front of me the pan America can take to the grass and soft earth to escape danger and power out without low siding. It gives you confidence. Well balanced. The GS will leave you tumbling after a low side leaving the pavement in a serious situation. In my opinion that's the main reason you will own either of these bikes in the real world on daily trips. Stay safe.

I brought a Pan Am this year, used it every day and I love it. Yes it is hot from the exahust, fix my problem with a spare piece of back protector, strapped to my leg. The light is better than the 60w Halogen that I have on my Lowrider, I am fitting the driving lights. Seat, I ordered Sargent seats, fixed. I have not noticed my standard seat being loose. Rear brake hose, fit a heavy duty cable cover. Navigation, yes is shit. Hand guards, replaced with Barkbusters. My fuel cap has a key, mind you my 1988 Lowrider doesn't have a lockable fuel cap, and I've not had a problem with someone messing with it in 35 years. Meh heated seats, what is the point. Thank bridge, don't see the problem, my Lowrider doesn't have a phone pocket, then we didn't have small mobiles phone in 1988. Now there is a pocket under the back seat. I gave up at 13 minutes.

You just lost alot of money and lost a fine ride then went out and bought probably one the worst junk bikes on the market . Put 50000 miles on that pretty package on junk and see what it takes to get another 50000. Put 50000 on the Pan American and sell it for your $15000 or just keep riding it . But you'd never know that , obviously.
