Thank you for the teach and the comments . This pattern is a nightmare but with you showing your process I think I will be able to finish.

Glad that the project worked out for you and you have a great pair of wearable pants. I am so annoyed because I just made a muslin pair, which turned out about two sizes too small. The problem was that my 6573 pattern did not include seam allowances. Not all burda patterns do, it depends on where you source them from, so please be careful with Burda and look for the small print, where they will tell you whether seam allowances are included or not.

I think it looks really nice! I didn't notice the problems with it until you noticed it so hopefully you will get more use out of the waistcoat than you think! I do think were it me, I'd have done a mock up before cutting into the nice wool though.

Okay so I am not alone with struggling with this pattern, it seems so simple yet I keep goofing things up. I am so glad I found your video because I was about to scrap this project!

Lovely finish! I've made this pattern 3 times. 1st a muslin, complete with eyelets and a long shoestring. It's surprisingly nice looking LOL. 2nd with the peplum from a shower curtain and lined with a sheet. 3rd from jacquard curtains and lined with a sheet. The 3rd one is reversible with a few modifications. I sewed the outer and inner fabrics completely together as separate pieces. Put them together and bound the edges for the finish. The armholes were a bit of hand stitching to finish the meeting of the binding. The binding at the 2 back seams is deleted. 2 for 1. YEHAW! New subscriber.

I was thinking of making this same pattern into a waistcoat too, and yours looks amazing despite the struggle! your process is super helpful and now I just have to find a nice fabric to make one to, can't wait to figure it all out for myself soon 😇

The main reason why I wanted to see this was to understand how to sew on the facing on the waistband. You dont show this. This video is therefore useless for a beginner.

This pattern I’m just starting to attempt it… and I’m confused about their seam allowances before I’ve even started sewing. 😂 is it 3/8” for some part and 5/8” for another?? If you can help thank you 😊 and also I’m enjoying watching this adventure of yours very helpful

How the heck do you sew the side pieces to the front in step 3? I matched up the small circles and everything and it does not work

Hi, just found you 😁 great haul. When a fabric is hard to press a seam on hit it with something heavy you can buy a wooden clapper but I just use my shoulder ham or a book. Steam a section and press the heavy thing really hard on it. 😁 love the pinefore. I love op shopping ( as we call it here) I collect old KnitWit patterns, I learnt to sew in the 70s/ 80s with them and also old Kwik Sew and New Look. New subscriber now.

I have a tin and I use thread and thread like buttons together so I just have little button bundles - no more sifting through trying to find matching buttons - my mum also uses the same system :)

The reason why the measurements on the back of the envelope and on the pattern piece are different is because of something called ease. The pattern includes it so you can get into and out of the garment easier.
