If you get a tool with a tiny spike on the end of it you can quite easily get underneath the little plastic catch and pull it towards the rest of the cap, comes off easy.

Could you tell me if there are 2 x steel balls at the base of the pump? I did retrieve one from in there and found one more on the floor!

I didn't see any but the parts diagram shows there's a steel ball under the little pump and another one behind the release valve.

I ended up taking the battery tray off. Once I removed this awful thing I deliberately snapped off the tang. The next time I can just reach in grab the bung and lift it out. No more plastic clip.

It’s a good video but for 37.00 I bought a whole new hydraulic pump. How much were the seals? 10-15 bucks. What is your time worth?

This 2 ton hoist requires an 8 ton hydraulic long ram jack and they typically go for $80+. This is also a Black Jack hoist purchased around 2006 and many times the older the tool, the better the quality. Plus, I enjoy repairing machinery and bringing it back to life. I purchased a 1980s Craftsman floor jack for $10 with bad seals and got it working with new seals for under $20 as well.

You could try a metal pick to open the tab on the plug. Removing parts to get to it easier could help as well.

Thank you very much! This helped me get the ball join boot clip on. One extra tip: If it stil goes difficult with the tie wrap, then only put the tie wraps on the bottom ring of the clip. Then you can put that on first, and put the rest of the clip on by going around the clip with the tie wraps.

I bought the one for this vehicle on ebay, item number 255821337095. NY does emissions testing I believe so you may need a more expensive cat that will pass the test.

Hi, please if you’re reading this, I really need help. Mine is an RVR 2020 2.0L. From this video, it means the 2013-2018 one can work if I get it right? Mine stolen as well. But they cut off both the upstream O2. The same length as the new one you got in this video.

Silly question - could you not have stacked two of the 5mm seals to make up a 10mm seal with two lips? That way if one failed the second would hold too?
@frylockthefryman
@frylockthefryman Ай бұрын
The hydraulic parts salesman actually suggested that to me when I told him I wanted a 10mm high seal but I wouldn't do it. Having one u cup seal means that it will have a solid steel shoulder to rest on and apply pressure to but if you stack them then the outter seal will get all the pressure from the fluid and will push that force against the lips of the seal behind it, rather than the steel shoulder. Just my .2c but who knows.

What is the name of the seal at the bottom that you didn’t replace? Mine was broken and I need to change it. And what’s the name of the local shop you bought your kit from? I would like to use your measurements to rebuild mines. This will be my first time doing so and I wouldn’t know what parts to ask for. Our cylinders look identical.

Hydraulic Sales and Service inc. If you're talking about the one at the bottom of the reservoir I think it's just called the reservoir base seal. I didn't pull it out but from looking at the video I think it's just a large o-ring.

You don't fill the CVT from that tube so there is no reason to remove it. The fluid is serviced through the drain plug. There is a standpipe in the drain hole and you use an adapter that screws into that standpipe then you pump fluid in and the service manual states the initial amount of fluid to put in. Then you start the car and warm up the CVT to the specified temp then you pump about half liter of fluid in and then remove the adapter and let the fluid drain out. It will stop draining when the fluid is level with the standpipe and the CVT is now properly serviced. Checking service is done the same way you just pump fluid in through drain port staring with about half liter at a time until it starts to drain and then you wait until it stops and the level is good.
@ngzcaz
@ngzcaz 2 ай бұрын
If you don't have a pump to pump the fluid, top filling is by far the easiest though slow.. Apparently the aftermarket dip stick is not reccomended to stay in because of corrision issues ? How is that possible ? For decades the trans dipstick was the go to way of checking if you needed fluid.. and it was always a hot check. Now it's not reliable ?
@frylockthefryman
@frylockthefryman Ай бұрын
I filled the transmission through that tube and had no issues. I followed the procedure with warming up the engine, removing the bolt in the drain plug, filling until it comes out that hole, etc. etc. Imo if they want you to pump the fluid in it's probably to make the procedure harder to deter DIYers and backyard mechanics from doing it so the dealers make more money on servicing them. That was always my theory as to why you have to fill Audi transmissions from the drain plug hole underneath the transmission with a pump.

Did this part from green exhaust keep the cel off? does your car say federal and California emissions under the hood on the sticker? I replaced mine with ebay cheap $45 part that said it fit 2011-2012 it looks like same shape it fits says epa compliant but got cel on p0420. my car sticker says federal and California emissions compliant. I don't live in California but wonder if this is the problem that my cel is on. I bought car also it had universal cat welded on got p0420 occasionally. I did what I said above to fix it "better" The part I bought made cel on all the time. I replaced both o2 sensors as well. Also from ebay for $43. I see mitsubishi has intermediate pipe for about $2155 but if there is cars with just federal emissions they should have two to choose from if the car can be bought with federal and California emissions or with just federal emissions.
@frylockthefryman
@frylockthefryman 5 ай бұрын
So far the cel has stayed off but the car hasn't had too many miles put on it since this was done so not sure what will happen in the future. I'm not sure if that sticker is on the car because this isn't my car but next time I see it I'll check for it and let you know.

Thanks a million, man. I almost had it figured, but was about to give up for the night. I googled, and someone had put your KZbin link up. I had already watched an infinite number of diy tutorials, but none had covered this part on this model. It is sort of the opposite of the other Nissans. Maybe that's why they called it "Versa". I made some room to work it by removing that air intake, the battery, the sensor/harness in front of it (without disconnecting), and the coolant overflow (also without disconnecting). 15 minutes work, and only a handful of bolts (fingers for the hose clamp, a 1/2 for the battery tiedown, and 10mm for everything else). I used an eyeglasses screwdriver and my hand to pull the plug. Oh, well. I hope my overdue service goes without glitches tomorrow. Thanks again. Keep it up!
