Smashing video. Very inspiring for me. I wholeheartedly agree that having space is not the be all and end all in growing your own. Firstly, we now have loads of space, but ive found that all that happens is that everything is spread further from each other 😂 Too far to walk. If one has a medium sized garden, then that will be enough for most. Look at the Charlie's Dowding plot. Perfect size for four or five large families, including preservation for winter, so imagine how much less YOU need. Thanks again for this video.

I'm so glad you liked it! Yes! It's not all about the space and the land, it's about what you do with it. There's a phrase in the photography world "all the gear, no idea!" for people who have all the stuff but don't know how to use it, can definitely be akin to homesteading! 😅 Thank you for watching! 🩷

Hello! We are in the UK too, both with a small home garden, tiny 7 x 8 foot glasshouse, and an allotment, so we are similar to you. It's fab to follow a channel that understands the space limitations we have with this type of homesteading!

Ohh fab!! It's great to connect with more UK folks, I love watching our US cousins doing their homesteading but their houses are generally bigger with access to more land, I love that there are folks here in the UK (and other areas of the US too) doing it our own way! I'd highly recommend @BecomingaFarmGirl too, her channel is way bigger than mine but she is amazing with what she manages in a small space!😁 Thank you for watching 🩷

Personally I would stick with a polytunnel because even if it breaks you won't have loads of glass to clear up, that's why we have one here in NE Scotland and believe me it gets windy here😅. Good luck with you new adventures x

That is a good point! Polytunnels are sometimes cheaper (although the cheaper ones probably need replacing even more often!!). My dad had a polycarbonate greenhouse (kind of like a middle version) and after a year or so it had so much tape over it, it looked like it had been in a fight... and lost! 🤣🩷

The fight is really about net zero,, most of us should know by now that all the climate models do NOT include water vapour, which accounts for 95% of a greenhouse effect. So methane being a greenhouse gas that's gonna make the slightest bit of difference is utterly ludicrous.. Another good point is,, north streem 2 pipeline the usa blew up was carrying methane,, 10,000 years of cow burps in one hour and not one news channel pointed out the insanity of net zero when the authorities have no problem nlowing up pipelines carrying methane..

Hi Niki, another interesting and informative video! Totally agree with all your points, it is so important to be more self reliant, my husband even delved into plumbing for the first time a few months ago and installed an outdoor tap from the pipes to the taps under the sink in our kitchen, saved a fortune in plumber fees and actually easier than you might think. Congrats on the 1K subscribers! 🙂

@ I love the idea of adding leftovers to a jar and canning it. I made the biggest batch of bolognaise sauce the other day. Canning it would have been great. But I chickened out 🐔 I suppose I am concerned that I’ve cooked it once. Then canning “might” cook it again and then it has to be reheated to kill any possible bacteria. I and wonder if the texture and taste are affected. Really really enjoying your channel. I throughly enjoy our American friends and their homesteading videos but have been looking for a uk based for more relatedness. So thank you. ☺️

Some info for you all: Bovaer is 3-Nitrooxypropanol (3-NOP) is a synthetic compound, its effects on a cellular level are not yet fully understood. Based on its chemical structure and mechanism of action, potential side effects could include in Animal and Human Cellular Level: 1. *Mitochondrial disruption*: 3-NOP may interfere with mitochondrial function, leading to cellular energy deficits. 2. *Oxidative stress*: The compound's nitrooxy group may generate reactive oxygen species (ROS), causing oxidative stress and damage to cellular components. 3. *DNA damage*: 3-NOP's synthetic nature and potential ROS generation may lead to DNA mutations, strand breaks, or epigenetic alterations. 4. *Cell membrane disruption*: The compound's lipophilic properties may allow it to interact with and disrupt cell membranes, potentially leading to changes in cellular signaling and function. 5. *Inflammation and immune system modulation*: 3-NOP may stimulate or suppress the immune system, leading to inflammation, immune dysfunction, or other immune-related issues. BEWARE!

What I don't see, is trials that look at what happens when you mix these added Chemicals from One Industry with another from another Industry, plus all the Chemicals found in drinking water, plus!plus!plus! It's no good looking at the effect of one Chemical on its own! We know Chemicals interact, change their stucture, have different effects, so what is the effect of ALL these Chemicals getting into Human Food Chain! Unknown! Is anyone investigating, does anyone Care!

This came about because in Denmark they put a large tax on every cow, if they use this stuff they don't pay the tax. I'm very worried this is coming as a carrot-and-stick senario, before they try to tax every cow in the uk. It will push people to alternatives. I don't mind alternatives, I use some of them, but I have a choice, and everybody else should have a choice too. Would Starmer push this to the UK because he want's people off meat etc? I don't know, but it is a worry. There is always a deeper side to everything when big money is concerned. Just to add to that, glyphosate was nearly banned in 2022, but for the share holders. Big money wins and our health does not. Another problem is that this stuff has not been tested enough - we know this because they say they are still testing it. Don't forget it will also end up in the soil, not only where cows graze, but where slurry is spread. It will also end up in our pet food. Will it end up in meat? I don't see why not. It depends if it is in all feed, meaning the feed fed to lactating cows, or not. Where is your meat coming from? Please also check all dairy and meat products coming from Denmark. And will it be used in other products - the answer is, yes. I don't know how true it is but I have heard it is in cadburys. But don't quote me. Tracing this stuff is not going to be easy for the consumer unless it is put on packaging as it is, or as an e number. But it is not a direct food product. Sorry, this is a long one. Good luck everyone.
