I gotta say. The newer mustangs now sound TERRIBLE. Years back I had a mustang with a 302, headers and dual exhaust. It sound way better then the newer mustangs now.

The old engines have character in their sound.

I raced a '65 Mustang GT fastback. It had 4.57 rear gears, a Borg Warner 4 speed with special close 2.64 gears. It had a '69 302 with 2V heads decked for 11.1 cr, 735 CFM HOLLEY (OFF A BOSS 9), 271 hipo cam. I turned a best of 13.20 at 100.59 mph. I'm sure the times would have been down in the 12s if I had put a larger fuel line, and a better fuel pump on it because the carb ran out of gas around the 1000 foot mark, and stuttered to the finish line. It came off the line HARD. No frame connectors and the front tires barely touched the ground when it launched. I LOVED that car. Start was at 4500 rpm, shift point was 6000 rpm, and crossed the line at 6100 rpm.

Would much rather see a fastback instead of just yet another coupe.

Whatever the car(s) are capable of, the guy in the '65 simply outdrove the other one.

Brutal 55, Love it! I absolutely love 5-5 Chevys. I had one back in the late 60's. 3rd motor was a 500+hp 331ci Corvette SB, Pontiac Muncie 4 speed and street 4.11 posi rear (4.88 strip). Best quarter mile time 11.96 at 114+mph. Sold the 55 in '70, BIG mistake !

Wow that '68 cut a perfect light. At competitions back in my day the track would award a cash prize for whoever had a .500 or perfect start for that day's competition. It wasn't always won and would build up until someone cut a perfect light.
