There's more to consider. A stainless filter contains and leaches nickel. You don't want nickel. Paper filter contributes to trash waste. Now compare to cloth filters.

I blind tested this idea of half plunging and normal plunging to the bottom using a French press in a lab in a cupping session with a q grader. We didn't let either one sit to test like for like in the blind test. We could not tell the difference in taste, acidity, balance, aroma or bitterness between either method. The few grounds left in the cup did not make the coffee "muddy" in either version. We then blind tested the method of letting each version sit for five minutes versus serving it hot. Again, no difference that we could identify. The lukewarm coffee is a matter of personal preference. I like my coffee hot. Now I simply put 12 g of coffee (a heaping tablespoon) in the French press, add 200 ml of hot water (a coffee mug), push the plunger down slowly, drink it hot. If you like your coffee stronger, add more coffee. Use high quality coffee, fine ground.

I just want to know if there's roughly the same amount of caffeine in 1 shot of Nespresso espresso, as there is in a regular shot of espresso made with a real espresso machine you would get from a coffee shop.

I used my bottomless portafilter and it came out spraying all over the place and very fast. It was much to weak the espresso shot as well. I am not sure what I am doing wrong? My wife had the same problem. It is 54 mm bottomless portafilter from Creama coffee products use on our new Breville Barista Pro. I am also using a 54 mm basket, so not sure what are doing wrong?
@CoffeeTimeJR23 күн бұрын
How much coffee are you putting in the basket? You also need to ensure your grind is fine enough. It should be almost flour like to the touch (though still grainy), and adjust from there to taste
@raps702716 күн бұрын
@@CoffeeTimeJR We did 21 grams of coffee on tripple porta filter. A nine grind but was still coming out fast and splashing alittle. We then did a 7 grind setting and still came out somewhat fast. That being said the coffee tasted great! Just seems like it comes out splashy and makes a mess on the back of espresso machine. When we use a regular double shot filter without using the bottom less porta filtre the coffee does not come out fast and splashy. Thanks for the feedback, I suppose we can keep messing with the grind? It just seems like we don't get the beautiful foamy slow espresso shot that you all seem to get? Thanks

metal filters, im drinking a halu banana honey single origin from west java, an incredible find at usd 20 a kilo bought online (i live in indonesia) sometimes mixed with a toraja to create a mocha like blend, i just fine grind 50 grams at a time, take a heaping spoonful (12 grams) put hot water from the machine into a hot cup, bloom it for 15 or so seconds and dump it into my large stainless V60. I dump it out before its fully drained out to minimize the bitterness. a really bright, with fruity notes, but chocolaty base with a lot of body is the result, just the way i like it with an absolute minimum of fuss. when i go to pour over shops and they go through the whole ritual, the taste is maybe cleaner but lacks body. a lot more time and i like mine better. wash the filter every time, i use a dense sponge and rinse it really well. this is the fastest, really good coffee i can make.

Perhaps you state somewhere in the video, but which blender container are you using? Vitamix has a dry ingredient container specifically for this sort of thing, but I’m curious if I can use the standard all purpose container to reasonably good effect? Thanks.

How to get rid of the paper filter paper taste?
@marys.26732 ай бұрын
I definitely DO NOT agree with your review. Being Italian and drinking espresso just recently in Italy…. This has the perfect intensity and taste for a true espresso. You can add milk and sugar to sweeten it but anything lighter would make this regular coffee.
@CoffeeTimeJR2 ай бұрын
Except... wasn't the whole point of this pod to NOT be espresso? This was their attempt to make a full size pot of coffee from their pod system and it tasted awful. I'm not clear what your comment is getting at honestly. Also, I always find it kind of wild when people claim Italy is the best place for espresso and anything else is not "real" espresso. In reality, the dark and burn coffee of Italy Is a thing of the past. The third wave movement of coffee has made it clear that people all around the world now care more about light roasting and actually tasting the flavor of the beans

@@CoffeeTimeJR light roast is the choice for fine tasters and super tasters 😁 For those claiming dark damaged roasted coffee is the thing, they are stuck in the past, for sure

Total beginner here. Does it affect double shots or just leave the water running for longer?
@karigrandii3 ай бұрын
People usually dont rinse the filter for drip coffee so it always tastes like paper. Usually the taste is also less refined and more blurred. But at best they can be really similar. The difference is that drip is more consistent but it is also more restricted. With handbrew/pour over you can do recipes simply not possible with drip and thus you can achieve tastes not possible from drip. This is why the best coffees are usually made with pour over and not drip (or espresso).
