Hi Cindy, That is so exciting! I am sorry the live stream didn't work this morning... gosh, I am frustrated with that. But I had to restart my computer and then it worked. So now I'm waiting for the edit to finish. It's taking forever... yikes. But wow, to know you're following along is really heartwarming!!!

Yes, it is. This is the very first one we made. I hope you'll think about attending my live stream sculpting lessons Mon, Wed, and Fri Arizona USA time (where I can answer questions in real time). The hands showing this demo are those of my husband, Chuck Oldham in 2011. He tragically passed away in 2014 at age 64.

@@Cindy-sx3nd Oh, thank you. Truly Cindy, I always doubted myself, and because Chuck was so good, it was hard to think of myself as a sculptor for YEARS. I was always drawing and painting, but sculpture scared me because I always thought in my head I couldn't do it. So, I'm committing back to this channel again to convince others that any fear that gets in the way can be overcome by loving something and doing it a lot! Practice makes a huge, huge difference. I look at videos of different animals and just want to sculpt them all!

Thanks for the comment. You know, I was doing this in front of my computer and for the first time in 2021. I am trying to sculpt, answer questions, and keep a train of thought all at once. There is no camera person present to create a broadcast-quality event. Plus it's all free. So hope you did get something from my effort.
@mortiferburzum2451
@mortiferburzum2451 Ай бұрын
@@LearnSculptureNo need to be so defensive as I didn't ask you for a " broadcast quality event" but for the basics " you post a video and no one can see what you"re doing " which makes it almost useless. Maybe that's why you have 8 views! My intention was to help you by making you aware of it. No one watches to admire your hair, just use a basic overhead setup like your husband ( no need for a camera man). Yes your video is free, but there are lots of other free videos on KZbin and of better quality so no need to watch yours. You seem to love admiring yourself in the lenses and act like you're doing a huge service to humanity by posting a not so great video on KZbin, so maybe reflect on it a little. My first comment was not malicious or ill intented at all but feel free to take this one as such since obviously I got annoyed by how you replied😁

Thank you, and it makes me cry to know this is all I had left. But I think I'll just have to go ahead and continue the lessons, starting with the livestreams I did in 2021. One side of me says maybe because I was not the sculptor he was, I have no business teaching. But the thing is, I learned so much from him and all the projects we did together over the years for the big gift companies, and I should try to share everything I learned. I am in school right now so have super challenges with time, but I really need to do this. I will try!

Hi Stephen, and sorry for being so late to answer. Charles (Chuck) Oldham passed away a little more than two years after we began this channel. I am his widow, and have remarried. Thank you so much for saying this. It made me cry, because it is true. I was his main student (Vicky Oldham) and I'll be back after the holidays with some new lessons. I'm not nearly the natural talent he was, but I learned to sculpt enough to do it professionally. There are so many questions that come in all the time and I do have the answers to most because I worked with Chuck for decades (since I was 19, and I'm now 68. He passed away from an incurable lung illness in 2014). Thanks again for your heartfelt comment.

10/25/23 @ 9:58 EST. I’ve just finished the car - love it. I’m worried that it’ll be extremely fragile without firing. I’m using Laguna ^6 WC608 clay. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. ❤
@LearnSculpture
@LearnSculpture 10 ай бұрын
Hi, for the lessons, we use oil-based clay, like plastelline, which is never meant to be fired, just reused. But a silicone mold can be made on the oil based clay and then some permanent material like hydrostone can be cast in the mold. It may require being cleaned up with a tool, and some parts reattached, but it will be a permanent piece, and you can make copies as well. After the holidays, I'll post more about moldmaking.
