News flash. Camo makes no difference when Whitetail hunting. I was wearing solid black last season standing on the ground next to my friend who was in Realtree but had a cigarette dangling from his mouth. Three does walked within five yard of us. Silence and stillness are your two best patterns, and awareness of the wind is a close third. Your grandpa used to hunt in red flannel and did just fine. THAT being said, I own a few different patterns from KUIU. The Verde shown here is incredible in deciduous forests when the leaves are green. They have a brown pattern that's much more suitable after the leaves fall. I wouldn't get hung up on patterns IF your only concern is deer hunting.

How are these as handheld? Will these require some kind of stabilization (monopod/tripod)?
@DeerandDonutsАй бұрын
I think it depends what you are trying to use them for and at what distance. What are their intended use for you?
@bigpappajr7854Ай бұрын
@@DeerandDonuts primarily for roof inspections, but I wanted to be able to use them for hunting as well. Our max distance for glassing here in South Alabama is 400-500 yards. Thinking maybe the 10x50 may be better for my situation.
@DeerandDonutsАй бұрын
I think if you are looking out to 400-500 I'd recommend a traitor stabilization either way. With that said unless you are trying to really look at mine length on deer or something like that the 10s might be a bit better. Definitely easier to handle glass with and 500 yards is way shorter than what we are typically using these 12s to glass at.

Before I built my rifle I took a really hard look at both the 6.5 PRC and 6.5 Creedmoor. Due to 6.5 PRC not being a “true” short action and it having substantially more recoil, I decided on the 6.5 Creedmoor. Yes, the 6.5 PRC has better overall ballistics than the 6.5 Creedmoor, but it does at the expense of more recoil, cost, and also the 6.5 PRC ammunition and rifles are not as widespread. I shot a 300 Win. Mag. for the last 25 years and have learned that bigger is not always better. The noise and recoil of the 300 Win. Mag. is not as cool as it used to be. 🤣
@DeerandDonutsАй бұрын
Haha couldn't imagine 25 years of 300 win mag. I think we can all agree either 6.5 will be substantially easier on your body after that.

Keep in mind, you can always load the prc cartridges lighter and have less recoil for range, target, and general shooting. Load it up stronger for hunting season. I've found over the years that most rifles can have great accuracy at the lower end of the reloading books.

I'm currently demoing a 15x56 B5 and compated them to my SIG ZULU 9 ZULU 10 Leupold BX5 Santiam all 15x56 I cannot see the difference in clarity. The B5 still have chromatic aberration under high contrast situations. My B5 18x56 looks clearer that this 15x56 Demo B5. Maybe I got a lemon demo? I expected way better honestly. I also own a Meopta B1 plus 15x56 which is a little clearer but rightfully so since they're more expensive. Pre ordered a Swarovski NL Pure 14x52 hopefully they arrive before I have to send the B5 back. I also own a Vortex Razor UHD 12x50 and it looks sharper clearer than the B5 15x56 demo Maven but then again IDK I may have gotten a lemon or a below average one.

I started out with Kuiu without a lot of research and have added a good amount to my collection. After hunting with sitka guys I’ve come to the same conclusion about it not being quite as durable although some pieces look more comfortable. I was looking toward Sitka for late season whitetail gear which I think they’ve hit out of the park with the fanatic set but ultimately went with first lite due to their 40% off fathers day sale. Sitka does have sales as well but it seems like I always just find the very big or very small sizes available. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the 3 brands and they all have good deals on to build a good hunting collection if you look out for sales or used pieces
