Love the experiment and particularly enjoyed the process, thanks for sharing.

Any household acidic with a pH between two and three will have the best results. That is why the lemon and white vinegar work the best there is also some acidity in ketchup and the diatomaceous earth but at a much lower level.

(Salt on wax paper, low temp to clean irons.) I'd try a heating pad to do this.

Cut a little hole in the plastic bag and pull the stuffing out a little at a time, then you can pull the bag out too😊

Be careful using pine rosin - make sure you let people know that you have put it in your wraps if you give them as gifts, its a common allergen (it's used in medical adhesives). I would have a horrible allergic reaction to these.

I just lost my butterfly that had crimpled wings she must of fallen from her chrysalis, and could not fly, unfortunately i knew she would not be able to be released even though i wished she could. I named her Bibia, she was with me for 3 weeks and she just passed. Im balling my eyes out. She was so special to me. She loved being with me while i worked ,on breaks i would take her outside and she would get so happy and try to fly, she just loved being outside. I already miss her so much.! Thank you for sharing such a beautiful story!! ❤🦋
@TheOldCountryPorchАй бұрын
I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is to have a butterfly as a pet, and it sounds like you did an amazing job at giving Bibia a wonderful life. They are the sweetest little souls and not many people get to experience that. Thank you for caring for her. 💕💕💕

Hi, can you please help me? I have cotton upper shoes in pastel pink colour and I was wondering if I should impregnate them with beeswax. Do you know if it will alter their colour a lot?
@TheOldCountryPorch2 ай бұрын
I’m not sure about shoes but the white bees wax shouldn’t change the color. I would be concerned about the color bleeding if you’re not able to pre-wash the shoes.

I let it mostly dry between layers but not all the way (because I’m impatient lol) it just takes a little longer for the final layer to dry though:)

Great idea. Just a problem with the design for taller soaps - the height of the soap may be higher than the base piece of MDF is wide. Which causes the "goalposts" to be too short. We had to disassemble and try again.

Thanks for the tip on the white tablecloths. I'm heading to Dollarama today. However, instead of foam balls, just use a soccer or basketball, or even a plastic bowl.

Also, whenever I make something like bechamel or gravy involving flower and some gets on the tarnished copper it cleans that spot when I go to wash the pot later, so I think there is definitely something to Jason's post below where it says in a restaurant setting they use "a slurry of equal parts salt, vinegar and flour."
@upscalebohemian53722 ай бұрын
I have over 20 Mauviel copper pots and prefer just using Wright's copper polish (which includes a handy cleaning sponge inside). The traditional French method from famed Richard Olney (who with Elizabeth David inspired Alice Waters and Jeremiah Tower to create "California cuisine" at Chez Panisse) is “…a paste made of a couple of cups of marble dust, an egg white, about 3/4 cup of flour, 1/3 cup vinegar, and a handful of salt, may be prepared and kept indefinitely in a sealed container.”

I love the look of these but every recipe I have seen says that you need Polysorbate 80 to help emulsify the oils and water and to help prevent rings from mica in the tub. Why don’t you use Polysorbate 80?
@TheOldCountryPorch2 ай бұрын
The cocamidopropyl betaine in this recipe is a strong emulsifier so you don't need polysorbate 80😊
