I have made hundreds of these and I have found the easiest way is to put the parchment paper on your cookie sheet and lay the fabric on top. Melt beeswax, pine rosin and jojoba oil and paint it on your fabric. Place it in the oven on speedbake at 170 degrees for just a few minutes. I have a paintbrush I keep on the cookie tray in the oven (to keep the bristles flexible) and use it to even out the wax. Put it back in the oven for a minute and they are perfect. If there is too much wax I just throw another piece of fabric on top to absorb it and make another one.

This is a fun crafting project for a Saturday afternoon. I'd start out with unbleached, heavier muslin made from organic cotton just to stay on the safe side, since this will likely have direct contact with food at some point. Fabric dyes aren't commonly from nontoxic sources and will leach out and into foods. This happens with microwavable plastic frozen food trays when heated.

Thank you..I have watched a couple videos prior before I found yours.. most all said to wash fabric before ,then used jojoba oil, pine resin and the beeswax.. take a piece of parchment paper, put the fabric on top, sprinkle x amount of the beeswax, pine resin, then dot the oil..put another piece of parchment paper over top and rub with a warm iron..I always like to watch several videos first so not to make so many mistakes wasting the products or messing up on making a salve, body products etc..I ordered the ingredients should be here next week and will be making my own..

This is good alternative for people who like to wrap their food with aluminium foil or plastic wrap. I still prefer using a clear container with lid. Good tutorial. Thank you.

I have a selection of brand name plastic and glass containers, most with lids, that work well and last years with proper care. Stretchable silicone is my next purchase for small to medium glass mixing bowls. I recently bought some of these waxed cloths at Dollar Tree to try out, so if they don't work out I only lost a very small amount of money.

@Amritadivya6 ай бұрын
I used a double boiler set up to melt the wax. rosin and added some jojoba oil. The rosin got sticky and lumping and took hours to melt(not exaggerating !). Then I used an iron because the wax mixture hardened quickly. Getting it to the edges was difficult and the rosin separated from the wax as it cooled. Really a mess and it seemed to take a huge amount of wax to get a good coating. I'm going to try heating in a microwave quickly and pour it on using the iron to spread it out. Does that sound like it will work better?

@TheOldCountryPorch Жыл бұрын
The biggest problem I had was the wax cooling before I could get it spread out, the iron fixed that for me. If you find you have the same problem you could also put it on a baking sheet in the oven to warm it up and use your paint roller while it's still warm, I've even seen people who use a cooking griddle to keep everything warm while rolling it out. All three ways seem to work!

I haven't used mine in a while because they need to be redone (the wax does wear off the material after a while) but one of the things that I noticed made a huge difference was cheese. Cheese blocks would last longer when wrapped in wax wraps vs. in a reusable ziploc bag.

The wages for sin is death but the gift of ALaHYM is Everlasting Life through Messiah Yahushgh our Master (Romans 6:23). That if you confess with your mouth the Master Yahushgh and believe in your heart that ALaHYM raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved (Romans 10:9). He Himself is an Atoning Offering for our sins, and not for ours only but also for all the world (1 John 2:2).
