So glad I rediscovered your channel. I remembered watching the oxide layer video forever ago.

This is a spectacular achievement. I only wish this had been a video series, but I'm sure it's tough to make videos when you're fighting off self-doubt on restoring a beast like this.

I can tell you that im sure many schools would love to have time on something like this for education reasons. Im sure they would pay for you to bring it out and talk about it.

I really love how interesting this is, that’s quite an epic repair job👌👏👏 it must have been incredibly tedious to research all these crucial details along the way. 27:23 who would have ever known an xbox controller would have useful parts for an ECM!! 🤣🤣 30:21 lol now that’s interesting!! Who would have known, I assumed they met go Cardinals lol and by the way those images are pretty impressive

Being an EEE grad I had always been using these theories but due to pressure of exams and assignments I could never visualize the use-case of these theories and just used to rote-learn them be it Pauli Exclusion Principle, MOT or Band theory. It's really amazing to see how these complicated theories which are actually not so complicated go so hand in hand to yield the nature we have around us today.

When you need a specific transformer, its cheaper to get it custom made. It is cheaper than you would expect. My physics teacher in collage told me this, i went to the industrial part of the town and I was surprised. Several years later, via the connections I made through the transformer guy, I got in touch with some optics people and they did the mirrors for my telescope. Again, all surprisingly very cheap.

You can calculate the oxide formation rate by first calculating amount of Oxygen partial pressure in the tube and then looking at the ellingham diagram and checking the co-responding silicon line and its oxygen partial pressure needed at a given tempereature to form an oxide. You probably need to investigate how to read the ellingham diagram, it looks complicated but is very simple, there are some great youtube videos explaining it.

People that have performed DIY repair can appreciate this video. I tried fixing a CRO once and that's when I knew how difficult it was to fix electronics without prior exposure to the instrument. Fixing a beast of a machine is insane. Kudos brotha.
