The "Naval Battle of Wake Island" alone would be an awesome product of this Alternate History. U.S. Tactical Defeat initially with the Lexington being sunk against the Soryu being Severely Damaged. U.S. MAJOR MORALE Victory as the Saratoga flies off VMF-221 to arrive over the defenders literally minutes before their surrender. After expending their ammo, the pilots of VMF-221 land and rearm and refuel their own planes to the astonishment of the defenders. By late afternoon, the sky has elements of VF-3 from Saratoga as contact has been established between Commander Cunningham and Admiral Fletcher. The greatful marines would see the Tangier approaching on Christmas Day as a gift of miracles. However, instead of the reinforcement they thought was coming, the Tangier has been ordered to evacuate the garrison and remaining civilians. Task Force 8 under Admiral Halsey would aggressively patrol to cover the hasty evacuation as the remains of Task Force 11 returned to Pearl Harbor with survivors from the Lexington. A small contingent would remain to destroy equipment and sensitive items while the majority of defenders and all civilians would depart on the Tangier under cover of the Saratoga Air Group that also shot down incoming bombers from the Marshall Islands. The defenders of Wake would arrive at Pearl Harbor to a joyous welcome and witness the Carrier Yorktown also arriving to strengthen US forces in the Pacific as the loss of the Lexington was a hefty price to pay for an evacuation. Although, as history records, not all defenders would make it out. The small contingent remaining was scheduled to be extracted by submarine, but the USS Grunion would meet an unknown fate while enroute. When another was tasked to complete the extraction, a lone radio signal was recieved, stating that a Japanese Cruiser was shelling the island.
