less muffling the better.... projection and pitch are everyting.... crank em up to roll definition... very little muffling

i think the wrist movement is not related to speed, drums needs a gentle hand. arm movement produce a loud sound while wrist is more gentle and bare able. plus good sounding doubles should be your goal not faster and doubles the start with rRlL (capitals are accents) can only be trained via wrist movement. training thisbway will get you faster on the pad but will make your playing on the kit so ugly.

But he never tells us how we can use this exercise musically. What a waste.

I'm a drum set player & I'm wondering how long to practice 8 on a hand? I usually do ten minutes. Also, looks like your fingers are completely around the stick (we call that the death grip) I usually have my back fingers loose. For this exercise should the fingers be completely around the stick making it more of a wrist type of exercise? Last, how fast should I be practicing this for? I usually go pretty fast. Thanks

Thanks for the lesson! How do you not get lost for example if you were to hold the roll longer and you're basically playing a double stroke roll at that point?

Super helpful, practicing tremolo in flamenco guitar, (juan Serrano-flamenco basic techniques). Finding it difficult to keep the rhythm even for 5 note tremolo patterns so this is a great help. Thank you.

Dude thank you SO much. I had to learn this for the first time in under 15 days left for a try out for my college this helped me way faster than any other way. And I appreciate the demonstration in how much “faster” it sounds compared to regular 1 e & a.

Wow that's crazy I already was able to do that because it was a hand rhythm I found naturally but I never really thought about it and realized it was a quintuplet. It's actually a super natural rhythm for me to vibe to

My idea was to have a set of Chromatically tuned Bass Drums (and also Chromatically tuned Tenors) so that they could play in unison w/ the Winds, Brass, & Pitched percussion to get a new sound. Imagine hearing a newer version of the Star Spangled Banner (El Pendon Estrellado) played on Chromatically Tuned Drums.
