Tension is the enemy of ALL musicians! I see it everyday with all instruments.(drums and winds). I like the dec/cresc. using 8s/16s- young players crescendo too fast and diminuendo too fast. Gradual is the key. Quality and consistency is also important.

@@Drumlinechops And I find lots of tension in young players as they try to negotiate traditional grip. The angle of the wrist, arm position, you name it. Such an awkward thing until they use the natural position and stop working against the natural tendencies of the muscles.
