Beautifully shot on 35mm black and white, edited by Alan Tyrer at Ealing and one of his most memorable from that early Monitor period. So pleased to see it again; pity the BBC could not make a compilation available!

Back when footballers were paid modestly, and played for their passion of the game, and their loyalty to the club. When football was a true working man's game, and English football had it's own identity. What a privilege it must have been to witness. But alas, I was born far too late, my grandfather was only thirteen when this FA Cup final was played.

The start of the "Wembley Hoodoo" - nearly every Cup Final from here up to and including 1961 was marred by injury. The ban on substitutes usually meant the match was ruined as a spectacle. 1953 - Eric Bell (Bolton) 1954 - no trouble 1955 - Jimmy Meadows (Man City; he never played again) 1956 - Bert Trautmann (Man City, who actually won the match; Trautmann's broken neck wasn't discovered till afterwards, but could have been fatal) 1957 - Ray Wood (Man Utd) 1958 - Harry Gregg (Man Utd, though he didn't have to go off) 1959 - Roy Dwight (Notts Forest - this evened up the game, which Forest were threatening to run away with completely; as it was they just held on for the win) 1960 - Billy Whelan (Blackburn Rovers) 1961- Len Chalmers (Leicester City)

Hello, I am with Fox Sports 1. We would like to use pieces of this video on our Fox Soccer Show. Could we please use footage from this video? Also, if possible, do you have another version of this video? A better quality version? If so, would it be possible to receive that too? Thank you, Fox Sports 1 Assignment Desk.
