LFGRW! AL is the GOAT mascot. We also trademarked Hockeytown? Yes. 11 cups and counting. Most recent cup of the Original Six as well...

Stevie Y, the best player Hockey has ever seen, the man had the desire, loyalty, and all the qualities I tried to emulate when I played, however, I never even came close in the desire and will to win department.

This was the best Red Wings team ever constructed. Having a superstar core led by Stevie Y and bruisers like D-Mac, Draper and Kocur and depth players like Shanahan, Lapointe and Brown. Also this had very good goaltending with Vernon and Osgood and of course, excellent coaching on the part of Scotty Bowman.

I’m confused if that was in support or mocking him. Why they show the dropped snap at the end like the was a highlight? What did I just watch?

The wings really need to retire #91...Fedorov was so good and you can see it looking back...everytime we needed a big play there he was...I know things ended rough but it's time to forgive and forget and welcome him back to hockeytown.

Summer of 97, I met Darren McCarty at an autograph signing at some sports shop in Oakland County. They had a big TV in the corner of the store that was showing game 4. When the moment his goal came on the screen, he stood up and watched it with oohs and ahhs. It was equal parts hilarious and amazing! I was 10 at the time and there is no better age to experience a championship. You're old enough to realize they won but young enough to still think the guys are superheros.

Have to admire how Russians like Larionov came to North America only knowing how to say "yes and "no", and are now fluent. North American players can't even go to Montreal without whining about what a hardship being surrounded by French is.

This might seem like a minor thing, but Yzerman, hacking at Lindros' stick at 44:44, just embodies the dedication he and the team made. Stevie didn't just casually try to knock the stick away. He played like he was angry and was in no mood to let Lindros do anything. I love that moment.

I agree. As good and talented a team that Toronto had, I feel Cujo would have been outshined by the Dominator in the end goaltending-wise.
@gutetime30398 ай бұрын
You put this team and every player in their prime against a prime Oilers team. Detroit would win 3-0. Why? Two time hart winner and only goaltender to do so, dominik hasek. Lets not forget he bested a stacked canadian team in the Olympics. In the most competitive games he finds a way to steal or win the game for his team. Ok not only do the wings have hasek, but stevie, hull, luc, lidstrom, datsyuk (4th line center) and etc. Im sorry but there is no way in heck no other team can close to beating this detroit team in their prime. All 4 lines have hall of fame players. Thats absolutely insane!!!!! I get Edmonton has Gretzky, Messier and etc. However, this detroit team was so much deeper and lidstrom could shut wayne down. Also you could have Jiri fisher throwing a huge hit on him as well or Shanny or the grind line. Its just insane to look at that line-up and realize this was once a reality.

1st time ⏲️ in 2006, Carolina Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup. 6 years later when the Red Wings defeated the Canes, the Red Wings would win the cup with Dominik Hasek(his last season) and 2019, St. Louis would become Hockeytown Champions.

Overcoming losing the first 2 games at home vs the Canucks was statistically very unlikely but they did it in the most savage way possible winning 4 straight. There was still questions about their age. I remember when Vancouver had them down 2-0 in the series a Vancouver radio dj jokingly said before game 3 hey guys take it easy on the Detroit old timers 😅 it was funny at the time but the joke was on us.

So many memories. This is the season that got me into hockey. My dad forced me to watch the playoffs every night.. by game 2 of the Vancouver series i was hooked. My dad owned this video on tape and we used to watch it periodically throughout my childhood. We even used to quote it “Vancouver..Game 3..not so easy” -Thomas Holmstrom
