I know, I'm late af, I just thought It was funny that you mention finding fictional characters to attach the song to because, for me, this song and Mary on a Cross were so impactful that I actually ended up creating 3 characters of my own based entirely around these songs.

Hypatia was a very important woman in Alexandria and Christians killed her. That's what this song is about.

This album was produced by the devil himself! I have reported the original video and you should to! I have asked my church group to as well and it is not good for the minds of anyone. GODD will rise and protect y’all from this hokey sin! BELIBE in god y’all!

100% - I've always admired Iron Maidens ability to make the solo's so melodical. But this, this ending tieing together the intro is actually on another level.

It's about a manipulate and abusive relationship. So in an obtuse way, it does relate to the themes of Heart of Darkness, as colonialism was a manipulative and abusive relationship. To me personally, it reminds me of waking up from the mirage called The American Dream.

If you heard Nightwish and GLS years ago it was probably with one of the earlier singers. Floor has taken the song into a whole new realm (Wacken 2013 probably being the definitive rendition), largely, but not totally, with ‘her ending’ to the song. This is the GLS by which the Valkyrie Queen induces Floorgasms and steals souls. And THAT was a Floorgasm.

OOh, that Tapas reference is great! What a perfect way to describe the diversity in their songs. I think I might use that one when I try and explain Ghost to my friends...so far all I can do to describe them is "Imagine if Black Sabbath had a baby with Abba which grew up to like Bon Jovi." XD I really liked this song (especially the catchy chorus) and thought it was very clever. Hypatia was a Pagan who was molested and brutally murdered by Roman Christians in the Caesareum for her beleif and teachings of math and science. This was back when Christianity was in it's infancy, when they were like an underground Cult. The song, at least to me, is desribing how Christianity and empires (like the Roman Empire) was built on this travesty. "We are building our empire From the ashes of an old Kaisarion." "It is the truth of candor shown Through a prism of deceit" "Kaisarion Put on the smiles And throw your holy rocks right at her For her satanic wiles" It is excellent!
