#3 foil has a plan form very similar to one I designed a few months back and rode for the first time today. I love it. A little tip flex in my very thin wingtips, springy, stabilises gybes through messy chop! And it's fast. Riding 2 hours in the winter today, no arm strain at all due to its very low drag. #2 foil looks to me like economical mould and prepreg materials cutting.

Fine video, but I've had to watch it a few times to understand the wind direction. I also can't quite follow some of the hints, like "Avoid the temptation to make the tack in two arcs." Yep, some people probably think I'm not the brightest bulb in the box, but most of us aren't!

Only concern I can see is if you have a situation which results in reducing the pressure in the wing, the mount is going to come off? Has anyone thought of a safety of some kind?

Excellent video, how easy you make it to see!

I'm an ok kiter, definitely not advanced, and I started winging on a 120L board. After 1 session I was riding a 75L board at 175 lbs or 79 kg rider weight. I find the smaller boards much better all around if there is enough wind. If the wind is really low a higher liter board seems to make things easier, but still nothing larger than 90L is necessary. Thanks for the info Wing Surf World! Probably helped a lot of people.

When will the Mantis V2 be released? And what will the difference be to V1?
@WingSurfWorld

Hi Tom, Cabrinha now do their kite range launches at the start of the year, and wing ranges later, more around midway through the year. The Manis V1 is still very current.

Mantis without windows is cheaper in the UK. Great wing, solid, stable and plenty of power, looks like it’s built to take a beating too. 6.2 is a real powerhouse.

Is the Freewing Nitro wing going to be more expensive than the Freewing Air? Because of the Hookipa material? Also seems like the Nitro only comes with no-windows?

Would be good to know riders weight. 55l is hard to sink. Ad choppy water or even wind swell and it gets even harder.

I’ve used the Vinaka for a couple of months now and it’s great! My ability to get up wind is greatly improved. It’s comfortable and the sliding hook works well. I used the D rings on the sides to mount a retractable board leash on the small of my back. Hope you guys come up with some good harness lines next : )

After looking at all the harnesses in person I think ride engine the best made at this point. I use it all the time. Snip the excess webbing. Are you doing a video on the Unit Dlab Aluula? That was the show highlight for me.

I'm trying to first balance the board without foil and wing - not much wind right now anyway here. I like this technique much better (more stability) than the knee variant, but I start from a sitting position. Sometimes I manage to balance it for like 5s, but I still struggle to get into my front foot strap...75l & 90kg
@mikeb1039
@mikeb1039 2 жыл бұрын
Yeh, that's pretty darn hard at your weight and that tiny board. And not really necessary. Motion gives you a big advantage over static balancing. Get a tow behind a boat or jetski. Even moving 5 mph you can be stable and fly and learn what you need to learn. I'm 230lbs on a 77L Lift board and I could never stand on it stationary. But can fly just fine on it. ;)

I have a very old F1 kite surf board. Could I use this with my wing?
@WingSurfWorld
@WingSurfWorld 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Stephen, not really... unless you're winging already and only wanting to use it in very strong winds in waves, but there are literally around 3 people in the world doing that, one being Kai Lenny! You need something with much more volume that will float easily with your weight on it, like an SUP if you want to use a board without a foil. Even then, if you don't have a centre fin underneath, you can expect to travel downwind quite quickly on a SUP - but it's useful to get used to handling the wing, if you've not done any wind sports before - but just be aware of where the wind will blow you. A cross-onshore wind would be best. Essentially, the whole game with the wing is to use a specific wingboard with a hydrofoil underneath.
