There is an old canal that is located near Laurel Locks Farm just up river from Frick's Lock. Was this part of the same navigation system? Also if you look closely along US422 between 724 and 100 you can make out part of the canal.

Hey question 🙋🏼‍♀️ in the area, particularly closer towards Daniel Boone Homestead. Are there underground tunnels? Or is it just lure! TY 😊

Thank you for showing us the Deppen Cemetery and telling us a little about it. I learned about this time last year that I’m a Deppen descendant and was excited when you mentioned the name. I’ve lived in Arkansas all my life and have never ventured to PA, but it’s now on my bucket list. Thanks for your videos; I’m thoroughly enjoying watching and learning from them!

This is my home. I fish and camp all the time, but they stopped repairing the bridges because they kept getting washed away over the years. I love it that they never fix it

Great to see, heading up there next week. Amazing how deep that Lock 6 is. I always think of the Union as small compared to the Schuylkill Navigation, but it's impressive. Nice find at Lock 4. Thanks for the nice winter light, best time to see ruins!

If I'm remembering correctly, somewhere between Hanover Junction and Seven Valleys there's a ~200 yard stretch of osage orange. What was once a long hedge is now tall, gnarled trees.

I'm from there, lived in a neighborhood across the street from it. Used to not have tags everywhere and I'm unsure how I'll get them off the next time I visit the state. That rock with all the names and dates is essentially a tradition, and they get pretty old if you care to read them all. I also suggest, if you're careful and have good balance, to climb that particular rock for a good view of the countryside. I've done it myself, though perhaps my days of doing that are over. Maybe I'll give it a shot next time. I'm not sure on the geology of the area but it would be very interesting to say the least.

The reservoir is BEAUTIFUL!!! Depends which way you come in. Through Rustic park you have to cross the creek twice and go to the “road” on the left. From Haycreek Road the road would be on the right. Such a pretty spot!!

Really interesting, thanks for your efforts. Grew up in W. Conshohocken but didn't know of the existence of Navigation System till 50 years later. Now I live in Nevada's high dessert area and can't check things out for myself.

Wonderful video! Several years ago my 2 sons and I joined a river sojourn from Schuylkill Haven to Philly in honor of 2 of my great-grandfathers and a couple other relatives who were boatman on the Schuylkill Navigation. Most of what you show I don't remember or we didn't see. So many people's lives are threaded through our PA rivers. I'll be looking at your video many times and sharing with family. Thank you for making it.

@@downhexhighway6024 One of the eeriest places was a walk in between the ruined walls of the canal in a dark woods thick with ferns. I would look up from the bottom of the canal and it was like looking up through the water at the bottom of a canal boat silently floating by. Looking forward to your next video.
