Nice! When I dove deeper into Logos, I had to search all the stuff you describe on my own. With this video other newco can save a lot of time (and money). Looking on the spreadsheet you linked in the description: Could it be that Verbum packages are missing and if so: are you planning to include them in the future?

If you have 2 monitors with the library open in each by separate windows you can search in one of the library's (have both Prioritized books open in each screen) the book goes to the bottom of the prioritized books in the first window, then just move it to the other window in the prioritized area that you want the book to go. Hope this makes sense.

Is there a work-around for Mac users? I've tried several times to export my Pages file to a docx. The conversion is successful but I get a error in building the empty file. I've looked at the file several times to make sure it is in a docx format and it it. Not sure what's going on.
@michelpauw

You don't need a workaround. The errors also show up when I do it. You can simply ignore the error. It probably has to do with the fact that the document is empty ;-)

I started watching your How to Create Prioritization Headings video, and when I added the first item as you recommended (=====ADVANCED PRIORITIZED RESOURCES FOR BDAG=====), I received an error message: "Build failed with two errors, 1 warnings" / "Error compiling book." Any idea what this is about? I have Logos 9.
@michelpauw

You can simply ignore those messages. It's probably because the file is empty.

Thanks Michel! How do you prioritize single commentaries from a series? When I drag a commentary to the prioritize list, it shows the series heading, with all the commentaries included. For example, if I drag Genesis from NAC to the list, it shows: New American Commentary: 44 volumes. Thx
@michelpauw
@michelpauw 23 күн бұрын
Right-click the resource in your library and select Prioritize this resource. The resource will then move to the bottom of your prioritization list and you need to drag it up to where you want it to be.

Thank you very much! I‘s a great help! I tried to build my priorities as shown in the video with adepting some changes. On the very top, I have the DCH and Bauer/Aland with Advanced Prioritisation. Following is my top bible, the german “Einheitsübersetzung”. Right-clicking on a lemma in it e.g. in Acts 1,1 and scrolling down, I find the indication of five german language dictionaries with lower priorities. When I right-click the same lemma in the NIV, five different english language dictionaries with higher priorities are presented. Is this how it should be? And: Being Roman Catholic, I was wondering if it would be beneficial to set up a section with important documents (like the Catechism of the Catholic Church or the Denzinger) on top of the list? Quick Reply
@michelpauw
@michelpauw 19 күн бұрын
Thanks for your reply and feedback! Interesting, I never noticed that Logos makes a distinction between user languages in its prioritization tool. What I can imagine is that the lemma's in your German Bibles are not linked to their underlying Greek / Hebrew equivalents, which is why it will search for the German word rather than for the underlying Greek/Hebrew word. Hence, it will open up German dictionaries rather than English dictionaries that are also linked to the Greek lemma's. Does that make sense? I don't think Prioritizing those catholic documents will work (but correct me if I'm wrong!). I'd rather suggest putting them in a collection and then adding the collection to the Passage Guide or so. Would that work?

The legacy editions have a strong disclaimer that they are"without features and datasets." I have no idea what that means and dispite research haven't gotten an answer. I haven't purchased a legacy library because of this confusion. I was hoping to get that here. Otherwise your video was very helpful. Thank you.
@michelpauw

No need to worry. I have purchased lots of legacy libraries. The point they make is that the Legacy Libraries are "only books". They do not contain any features (as do the Logos 10 libraries). However, the books from the Legacy Libraries work EXACTLY the same in your Logos library as any other book in your library.

Would you be willing to share in consecutive slides or screenshots? I am well aware I don't have your extensive resources nor the need for your particular refinements. Much appreciated Webinar, gentlemen. But one comment of Jon's nifty "create a collection from a library search tip". I tried it, and discovered that though I can add print books to my library and actually get search results in them, I can't actually add them to a collection. The "collection" I created seemed to have all the books selected, it only displayed the one which was completely a Logos library book.
@michelpauw
@michelpauw 3 ай бұрын
That's correct. Collections only seem to work for resources that you have in your Logos Library. It would be neat if Logos would also allow us to add Print Books to our collections!!

This was the way it was done as far back as I remember in the Ukarumpa/Aiyura Valley Gadsup tribes (1950s/60s) -- except they didn't have the plastic sheet or tarps back then. Everything was covered in banana leaves, which meant uncovering the food had to be done very carefully. Well-done video. Elsewhere, I've seen the people do it pretty much the same way, except for hollow bamboo tubes being inserted early on, so once the final dirt covering is on, water is poured directly down to the hot stones to create the steam that does the cooking. Delicious!

Thanks to you both. I like to use journals more often in Logos for pastoral purposes. Since most of the journal bundles are still quite expensive to buy, what are you thinking about the subscription model? What are the pros and cons?
@michelpauw
@michelpauw 4 ай бұрын
I don't think the new subscription model will bring an alternative for buying journals. However, the cool thing that I have experimented with, is that AI will be able to summarize a journal article pretty neatly.
@andrease8228
@andrease8228 4 ай бұрын
@@michelpauw thanks Michel. Yes that's interesting about the subscription of AI and other features. But I have a subscription of a journal package in mind. Here you pay a fee for one year (ca 50 $) and have access to several journals. You can work with the journals, but you do not own them. I ask myself should I spend 500 $ for ownership or is it wiser to rent for 10 years.
@michelpauw
@michelpauw 4 ай бұрын
@@andrease8228 Personally, I don't like subscription models, as I don't like rentals. If you purchase the journals, they will be yours. You will likely use them more than a couple of years. And if you decide to not use them anymore, you can sell them again, and get most of your investment back.
@michelpauw
@michelpauw 4 ай бұрын
@@andrease8228 But again, I'm quite positive that journals will not be included in the subscription model. What I know is that some 400 basic resources are included in the subscription. Logos will continue to offer the rest of their resources through normal sales.

I’m impressed! You showed us a lot of features we aren’t utilizing (I can only speak for myself), and I appreciate all the knowledge you dropped. However, I do not agree that on your interpretation of the gods. From context, and John 10:34 you referenced, the gods mentioned are none other than the wicked, and more specifically wicked Israel. Read Ps. 82:6, the whole verse that describes these gods. And it’s why the Jews also went to seize Jesus after he quoted the passage. He was telling them that they are wicked Israel, no better than their fathers. The psalmists thinks the wicked must be like gods since nothing ever happens to them. Nevertheless, v7, like men you shall die.
@michelpauw
@michelpauw 5 ай бұрын
Thank you for your compliments and feedback! Regarding Psalm 82, of course, I can't go into too much detail here, but I feel that it is the most natural reading to read 'gods' as 'gods'. Some of the reasons I don't believe the gods are anything else than the false gods, are: 1. the 'great assembly' or 'divine council' is a well-known technical term for the Near Eastern pantheon (to which the author of the Psalm says goodbye in this poem!) 2. the text speaks about God judging the gods, not human beings, so it is the most natural reading to interpret the gods as gods (if possible, and that seems to be the case) 3. in Hebrew, the phrase 'they know nothing, they understand nothing', also occurs as EXACTLY the same phrase (and nowhere else) in Isa 44:18, where the context clearly indicates that the 'they' in the phrase applies to false gods 4. Ps. 82:8 clarifies that the focus of the psalm is not locally restricted to Israel, but universally encompassing all the earth (see also verse 5 'all the foundations of the earth are shaken') 5. In John 10, Jesus addresses the accusation of blasphemy. If the gods in Psalm 82 refer to humans, then Jesus is undermining his all argument that he in fact is the Son of God. Because, then, the argument would run like this: hey, hey, don't worry, didn't God call humans 'sons of God' in Psalm 82?! If God calls humans 'sons of God' why are you taking an issue with me calling myself 'son of God'? This is very unlikely. I believe the opposite is true: Jesus is referring to Psalm 82 because in that psalm, the WORKS of the 'gods' showed that they were in fact not worthy of the name 'god' (because 'gods' do - are supposed to do - what is right), while - if you look at the WORKS of Jesus, then you see that he is doing exactly the works that are ascribed to God, which means he has the perfect right to call himself God.
