Asphalt needs heat to compact properly. Looks pretty but won’t last as long as it should

Water is what keeps blacktop from picking up on the drums of the rollers. Don’t think you know much about asphalt or have ever done it

Oh? So garden hose cooling won’t create uneven cooling? What if there are areas that get cooled too much. I’m assuming there are min temperature requirements even when just removing roller lines. Please correct me if I’m wrong. I don’t know anything about asphaltic concrete.

@@garrickdoll9640 you roll the job out with your larger roll to get your compaction then use a lighter polish roller and plate tamper to get all your lines out The water helps cool the job off a bit so you don’t keep creating new lines driveways and roadways are built differently There’s a lot more attention to detail when doing a residential driveway Roads in my experience have been set and get

I’m retired now, but I owned a Paving/Excavation company that was in business for 28 yrs. This is one of the very few videos I’ve see that actually put some thickness down, if you want 2 1/2” of Asphalt you need to put down 3” then after compaction you’ll end up with your 2 1/2” , Anyways, nice job !!
