My only nitpick with MH4U, and the sole reason I vastly prefer Generations and Rise (skipped World due to potato PC), is the fact that if you really want the best weapons you're forced to select one from a limited late-game monster pool. Kecha Wacha's stick is my favourite insect glaive design in the whole franchise, but since both Kecha Wacha and his fire variant are from the early G rank, you can't upgrade it past certain rarity and won't ever reach the potential of later G rank weapons, making it pretty much useless in the endgame. There's no transmog either, so event crossover armor and weapons can't ever be used (unless you're doing a challenge run, but not everyone has fun doing those) for the same reasons. Later games fixed this by giving all weapons the potential to reach rarity 10. Sure, some weapons are definitely better than others, but if you really like the looks of a weapon that isn't meta, you can use it and still be close to the meta ones power-wise. Not to mention the fact that transmog exists now and you can bypass the whole problem anyway.

I miss a lot of these monsters in the newer games. Kecha Wacha, Najarala, Nerscylla, both Seltas, Tetsucabra, Zamtrios and Dalamadur were all unique and not just a different flavor of some generic wyvern.

ahhh the best old gen mh (heavily biased cause it's my first mh), it got a decent story, cool monsters especially in g-rank, and cool monster means cool armor.

After the Switch port of MHGU, I always hoped for a 4U port. Maybe on the Switch 2...

For some odd reason, a raging Garuga is more terrifying than a raging Tigrex. That, or I just spent too much time perfecting my skill in hunting the Tigrex. 🤣😭 Also, the Pleisoth hitbox still gives me nightmares till today, and I first started playing the game back in 2013. 😭

This one is a childhood game of mine. I'm glad people share the same sentiment in nostalgia. At first, going against the most menacing looking monsters while still underleveled to shit made me shit n' piss my pants, but goddamn, was it so fun to explore and try to defeat them. Jinouga was still by far the toughest monster I encountered; took me weeks in trying to cheese him by running across the map like a bitch and then suddenly one afternoon, finally got to beat him. After than, I just farmed the shit out of him to get the full outfit. Funnily enough, I had downloaded it into my PSP and it was set on Japanese as default, so the entire time I was playing the game was in Japanese (never figured out how to change the language) and quite literally had to memorize every prompt and what it does, and try to remember it the next time so I wouldn't buy a useless item or go ona suicide quest later on. Nostalgia hits super hard with this one. Thousands of hours figuring things out. Wish I could play it every now and then still.

Dude, completly crazy! i'll just started to play this game, had it on my psp years ago and i still got it but not a charging cable for it. So i downloaded a emulator to test it out, and fucking hell this game is hard. Even the trainning school quests are unforgiving
