For those of you unaware, "Diablos the Demon King" is a quest with a special version of Diablos with one horn broken at the start of the quest. This Diablos basically does G-Rank damage while you are limited to High Rank gear since it's a village quest (there is a hub version of the quest as well.) This quest is known for it's difficulty due to the damage Diablos does and people timing out of the quest from not doing enough damage. There are old forums detailing past hunters frustrations. If i remember correctly in the Japanese versions of the game it gave a unique armor set.

With cheat, you can see its HP. If I'm not wrong they're like 8000 or 10'000 and for me the biggest annoyance with this thing. It rages like every minutes (which means it uses burrow for 50% of it's moves) and chew off tons of time that should be spent hitting it.

Good old diablos, what a jerk. Now do the One Horned Demon King quest. That quest was brutal, it took all my potions and megas, the materials to craft more pots and megas, all my sonic bombs and mats to craft more, and all my traps and mats to craft more, plus a good 57 minutes with 2 faints. Had to use my final trap to capture because I was not timing out that quest nor was I willing to risk triple carting at that point.

Yeah that wind pressure on Diablos burrowing is so cancer. I play greatsword so imagine how many times Ive been affected by it and get punished with hitstun just for existing near a Diablos lol. One little trick I learned from this is how to avoid his dig. You have to run directly over where he dug down to; when he springs out of the ground he'll be facing the direction you ran from and you'll have a shot at his tail.

When Diablos digs it'll go in a straight line to your last location, just run to the place where it started digging and wait until it comes out of the ground then hit the tail quickly for massive damage, try to focus on the tip to avoid the tail swap attack.

To be fair I used the 2x cheat for some guild quests and the 4 times for the 3 Fatalis. It's just because they have a fixed amount of HP that is supposed to be for 2 to 4 players. And the Fatalis fights just drag on for forever. Thats it. They are also just so boring

A few days ago i was fighting my second High Rank Tigrex (guess it was the third since the first quests with Tigrex has two but anyway) It was in the Desert, and i barely survived a combo that left me stuned, i moved everything in my control to escape, and just when i recovered the movement, a damn Shakalaka killed me That was the most embarrasing death i had in any Monster Hunter game

Diablos is one of those fights that only really started getting good from the third gen onwards. Older gen, it relies a lot on nonsense and janky hitboxes to actually provide a challenge, stuff like the scream stunning you for so long that you can't really get out the way of the charge anymore, or the dig animation stunning you with wind pressure for long enough to very nearly guarantee you're gonna get hit. A lot of it is basically just artificial difficulty, where newer titles actually give him a fair but dangerous moveset.

imo thats what makes older gen better than the newer one. The game original theme is about us human, hunting scary monsters. And when we talk about hunting, then we talk about preparation and knowledge about our prey. older gen stun mechanic from wind or scream forced you to prepare a right set of armor to counter them. You actually need to learn the monster, from their moveset, weakness to their habbit such as their nest location etc. meanwhile, in newer gen, all of those simply become unnecessary. just make a good set with highest damage output and smash all of those monsters. the game changed from "hunter who hunt unfair monsters" to "hunter with unfair abilities farming monsters".
